Project Management Using Microsoft Project 2016: A Training and Reference Guide for Project Managers Using Standard, Professional, Server, Web Application and Project Online for Office 365

As a technology professional that lives and dies with good project management, I took a ton away from this book. It contains a good balance of project management knowledge and the actual real-life application of theory to the use of Microsoft ProjectIt also has a series of detailed hands-on exercises that layout the exact steps required to master the features and functions of Microsoft Project.A few key take aways/benefits from my perspective include:- Ability to download Microsoft Project MPP exercise files to support the hands-on exercises- This version has new & improved screen captures. Much better resolution than the Microsoft Project 2013 edition- The end of chapter quizzes are extremely helpful to reinforce chapter topics and make sure that everything was covered.- Overall, it really gives you comprehensive coverage of all the key features of Microsoft Project including Microsoft Project Server and Microsoft Project Online (Office 365)Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to improve their proficiency with MS Project 2016 & streamline their PM process.

The book is sequenced perfectly for someone to teach themselves Project Management. I downloaded the exercises and used all of them following the guides. I looked for a continuing education class before purchasing this book but was unable to find one. This turned out to be better for me. I will continue to use this book when I'm done as a reference. My boss likes being the only one at work that has all of his projects laid out with a chart and timeline.

Good book

It was more like a Text book that teaches and Test the knowledge than the reference book to get answers. In the real world the testing is "Does it work not did I get that question right."

I found this book to be a both great technical reference and a training guide for any Project Manager who is looking to master the Microsoft Project 2016 scheduling engine and its connection to Project Online and Microsoft Project Server. The content structure flows well with the overview chapters on project management theory and the follow-up step by step guidance on how to use every possible Project Manager-related features in Microsoft Project 2016. It begins with introductory basic concepts for beginners and continues all the way thru the most advanced capabilities for Project Managers who are striving to attain higher levels of tool expertise.

This training guide has an intuitive presentation that parallels the standard project management flow from definition/planning, through tracking to a baseline, then to execution, monitoring, variance analysis and reporting. I found the project management and Microsoft Project topics to be well integrated and comprehensive. The exercises are easy to follow and are supported by Microsoft Project files I downloaded. The training steps are also accompanied by 300+ clear screen images that show all the detail I needed to understand. This text covers how it all works together with task schedule dares, supported by demand and capacity for resources, and budget definition and management.

As a technical resource and team lead in the IT industry, I've been on both sides of a project.  I'd recommend this book for Project Managers and Technical Resources alike, so everyone understands their role in a project.  From a Project Resource perspective: why a project manager may be requesting specific information from you, and from a PM perspective:what information is important for a PM to gather.  This book is written in an easy to understand format and with the downloadable content, I find it to be, not only a valuable training tool, but an easy to use reference guide.

This is a great book! I have the Kindle version. There are some weird layout things, and I spotted some things leftover from the previous edition, but they are not very distracting. This has been adopted as our new PM textbook for a college course on project management & estimating. Love the accompanying answer keys and slidedeck for instructors! Great job, Mr. Cicala!

I found this reading very basic instead of the advanced lecture advertised

too much talk to get to the point…,aside of this, very user friendly and helpful to understand MS-Pro

Approx 1/3 of the book relates to Project Online, which is what I was after.

Si tratta di un ottimo libro non solo su Project 2016, ma anche su Project Online.Lo consiglio. Unica nota dolente, i file relativi alle esercitazioni che non sono riuscita ad aprire, ma potrebbe trattarsi anche di un problema relativo al pc della sottoscritta.
