First Warhammer novel-Excellent read
Having added Black Templars as one of the armies I plan to build, purchasing this book as my first Warhammer novel seemed a no brainer. It was an excellent decision. Well written, this book brings interesting background into Sigismund's character. Highly recommend for Black Templar fans or those looking for an interesting read.

Great book
It starts kinda slow, as it should be for, probably the best warrior ever, it slowly increases its pace and depth, Pre Heresy Sigismund is a blast, a blast that sets the tone for the relentless heresy Sigismund that leaves no traitor with a head, a must for any Imperial Fist fan.

Cool
An interesting backstory of how Sigismund joined the Astartes and became First Captain of the Imperial Fists as well as leader of the Templars.Spoilers below:I loved the revelation that the Night Lords found the young Sigismund: how things might have been different. And I loved how Sigismund, alongside other First Captains of the Legions, exchanged some words with the Emperor on Ullanor.

Sigismund
As others have said, Sigismund wasn't really well known to me, but a good book is a good book. Now? Yeah, the characters appeals to me. I read it a while back, but this is the type of book to keep then reread again later.

well written times in several story lines.
I loved this book, lots of short memories directly from the mind of one of the greatest Space Marines of all time. A fast paced read that pulls in several story lines and reminds the reader the Sigismund laid the smack down on most every chapter champion there was. Loved this.

So how good is it really?
I've never been a fan of Sigismund. At all.But this is brilliant. The "recruitment". Training. Sejanus! THE DUEL!Get it for certain. Loved it.

Product description is wrong. It's hardback not soft cover
Great book. The product description is wrong though. Says paperback but I received a hardbound copy like the other primarchs and horus heresy character novels.

Not doing the character justice.
The assembly of short life snippets wants to describe the upbringing of one of the most beloved characters of 40K.Yet it fails where especially the late Heresy/Siege books have succeeded - density, gravitas, structure.Everything feels abbreviated, cut, condensed. There is not much of the hyper-detailing and deep-dive introspect one loves about the universe. It feels blunt, and lifeless, and much, much too short and shallow, and the scarce few high-value scenes are not enough to round up the overall impression. Not doung the Templar justice. At all.A huge disappointment. If you want to feel Sigismund, read "Warhawk".
