The perfect solution for an unusual application!
Let's start with the fact that these things are GORGEOUS! Excellent craftsmanship and fit/finish. Now to the question of strength. Many folks have inquired how much weight they will hold and do they hold knives firmly. Well, the attached photo should explain it all. I bought 7 of the 20" units for building a display of an historic edge weapon collection... swords, axes, pole arms, spears etc. Suffice to say that these items are far more massive than your typical chef's knives. The single heaviest piece is a 7 pound German bastard sword that connects with two of the knife strips, one near the hilt and one farther down the blade. The hold is superb. I even went so far as to punch the wall adjacent to the display to see if I could dislodge and of the pieces... nope! I was worried that the magnets were not up to the challenge, but boy was I surprised. To be clear, the wall to which the display is mounted is made of tongue and groove cypress, so my substrate is much stronger than drywall. The wall must be able to support whatever the magnets can hold of course.Wow, just wow.

Very very strong, with no "dead spots"
This is exactly what I needed and wanted in a magnetic knife rack. I recently invested in a set of 18 Damascus steel kitchen and steak knives, and they are too pretty to put in a drawer. I needed something strong, that looked nice, and would work in the space I had. I seriously did a happy dance when I found this knife rack and read the reviews. The one where the person used them to hang a collectoon of weapons really convinced me that this could hold my knives. I did a further happy dance when I found it was available in 30", as the space I had was about 32" wide and not tall enough to put 2 rows of racks. The rack holds my knives beautifully and very securely. There are no "dead spots" on this, other than the small space where the screws are, so you can position knives anywhere along its length, including right up to the edges. It was easy to hang. I used my own hanging hardware (I felt better using longer screws and metal anchors instead of the plastic ones it came with), and after reading other reviews, decided not to hammer the wood plugs in all the way, so I could get them out later if I need to (not leaving this behind if I move!) All in all, I am extremely pleased with this knife rack, and if I had more places to put them, I would buy more.

Very Well Made and Looks Great
We purchased the "Wenge" color, 16" size. It is always difficult to know how it truly is going to look based on pictures on a computer. The color is a bit lighter than what I was expecting, but looks fantastic. The design and craftsmanship are excellent. Also, when comparing similar items I always try to purchase ones made in the USA. Installation is extremely simple and everything was included to mount to drywall or the studs. The magnets definitely strong enough for our needs, none of the knives have slipped at all. I avoided the stainless steel ones due to appearance and rusting issues (they will inevitably show surface rust in our salty air). I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a magnetic knife holder.

Amazing quality for a simple and elegant accent to any kitchen
Quick edit to this review:Over time the wood has started to dry a little bit so expect to oil the wood every once in a while like you would a cutting board or any other un-lacquered wooden instrument. A touch of mineral oil is all that's needed.Original Review:This magnetic strip is amazing. It's made out of a single piece of wood and I imagine it's hand milled to specification depending on how you order it. I purchased a default 24" length but there's an option to purchase any length to the full inch you desire.I've uploaded a bunch of pictures since there isn't a whole lot of information on the back and that was relevant to me. There is just enough of a lip along the magnet channel that allows for 1/2" 3M VHB or gorilla tape. I'm mounting onto tile and would prefer not to drill through. I imagine 2 strips is a bit over the top but I've mounted quite a few knives and better safe than sorry. This magnetic strip is nice and discreet compared to commercial options and I also feel better about placing my knifes on it without accidentally chipping the blades. My cabinets are low enough that regular knife blocks with a vertical pull wouldn't allow the knifes to clear so this is an elegant solution to that problem. I went with Walnut wood because it seemed like it would be the closest match to my Teak cutting board, however, it's not a perfect match and that's ok and to be expected. Even the same wood wouldn't have matched as the board has changed colour over time due to regular oiling and use.I do wonder if this knife strip would need to be oiled over time but it seems fine out of the box. There are some imperfections in the wood, since this is natural wood and not some manufactured piece. You should expect this and know that this is what gives the piece character and individuality. Some criticism I would offer the maker would be the branding should be centered. It's off to one side, which is a bit odd, so I've mounted it with the logo facing down so it's not typically visible. If it were centered to the piece I would have been happy to display it. That being said, I think the extra magnets on the end outside of the mounting points is a nice touch and very much appreciated so that knives can be mounted all the way to the edge of the piece.I'm very happy with my purchase and will update if I find some issue later on. If no update has been made, assume that this piece is still flawlessly doing its job.

Looks good but only medium adhesion.
I already had a knife board from years ago but now that I have over 20 knives need a second. This new strip does not have the adhesion of my 10 year old one. The older strip is mounted vertically so that my knives are horizontal , if you try to mount knifes the same on this strip they will not remain in position but slip to a 45 degree angle. So relative the my 10 year one, from another company, this new one is only half as magnetic .

not for vertical install
This knife bar is very nice. Dark walnut stain. I was hoping to place my knifes horizontally but the magnet isn't strong enough for that. It works well with the knifes vertically hung.

great for my new kitchen
I put a lot of consideration into the design and function of my new kitchen. It is smallish and every space is important. I love the knife strip, it holds a variety of amazing knives that also took me forever to decide upon. This strip not only functional and holds 6 large knives, very well. This strip is a great addition to my kitchen!

I love my beautiful wooden magnetic knife bar
This thing is really lovely, sturdy, with a powerful magnet. It is the best-looking one I've ever seen.
