It will charge but there are no magnets so Magsafe does not work. Wallet and even car chargers don't hold.

does it have a raised lip to protect the screen from falls?

Yes. The side is about 1mm higher than the edge of the screen. The front is otherwise completely open. I applied a tempered glass screen protector to mine for safety - they have saved me in the past by cracking instead of the screen. Also, there is NO protection for the camera lenses on the back, although I think I've heard there is something you can add on.

Just an awesome and durable phone case

Coming from using an Otterbox case for over 10 years I was hesitant to try something else. Fear no more! The Gear4 ZAGG Battersea Hardback Case with Advanced Impact Protection is simply an awesome case. I have dropped it a few times and the case has protected my phone with no issues. I actually I like how it feels in your hand. The rigged back and the raised ridge on top make holding the phone super secure. Not as slippery as some other cases feel.
