Great for what it is
I like this a lot, but I have to admit I don't typically eat this kind of food... so I don't have a baseline to compare how it is to other similar meals. I would strongly recommend that you make rice to go along with this for a meal though, as it is not filling enough by itself... but also, beans along with rice make a complete protein.Taste is subjective, but I would say it is not "spicy". It is flavorful and not too overwhelming. I think there may be a bit of cream in it and some mild spices. Nothing too crazy, but again, this is subjective. I've known people that thought mild fajitas from Chili's were "spicy", but I digress...

Delicious And Healthy
The media could not be loaded. Even after 37 years of marriage with children, I still cook, but not every night anymore. When I do cook a family or family and guests dinner, I like to use our crockpot and my homemade lentil soup is a favorite. I actually prefer vegetarian dishes and lentils are one of my favorites. But because there is no mama homemade lentil soup around all the time, I looked on Amazon for lentil soup options. I found the Tasty Bite organic Madras Lentils in pouches in 2 sizes, single serving and family size. This tasty mix contains lentils, red beans, and spices, and it is “simmered in a creamy tomato sauce.”After reading the description, I decided to try it. It is now going to be a regular staple in our cupboard. One of the features I really liked was that it is so easy and quick to heat. You can heat it directly in the pouch for one minute in the microwave or add it to a pot and simmer it that way. The other night my husband and I were going out but didn’t have time for dinner so I heated one of the lentil pouches and ate it in the car!I was even inspired to make a video about it for you guys to help you make a decision if you’re looking for lentils. So here is MusicMom Jeanine with her Madras Lentils in a short “ this is how I do it” video. I give it yummy thumbs 👍🏼 up!

Surprisingly tasty
I bought these as quick fall back diet meals as when paired over some rice it's under 500 Calories. I had expected these to be horrible but they are a new staple in my pantry

So good on tired days with rice or quinoa pouch
This is so easy and tasty on a lazy day! Tastes close to a take out order and satisfies. I do add veggies and rice or quinoa but then you’d need added spices. Still delicious

Channa Masala
I love this chana masala. The flavor is just a little more bland than I like mine, so I add 1 tsp of kashmiri chili powder and stir before microwaving it. It's a delicious, easy, and quick meal. I also enjoy the Madras lentils and buy that from costco when it's on sale. Madras lentils tastes like american chili. I love that these products are organic and am willing to spend a little extra to get these.

Donated elder home. I was also disappointed how close to expiration when I received it
purchased the Punjab Eggplant I tried one of the 6 bags. I had to so much to it to church it up quite a bit and give it some sort of taste. It's truly one of blandest tasting things I've ever had. No exaggeration. Not even a tomato taste. Based on the information and photos here they look like they will be delicious. It was disappointing because I had kept wanting to try these tasty bite sauces which I thought were ready to eat meals that could be eaten by themselves or over something. Which i suppose you could do if you're so inclined. I throughly read the ingredients and reviews before purchasing. I didn't see much reviews for the eggplant when I purchased mine but based on the ingredients and description and information provided I had absolutely no reason to think they were going to have no taste.I did give it 3 stars mainly because of the non-gmo verified ingredients and for me it would be 2 servings per 10oz bag over rice, grilled zucchini or eggplant. The nutritional profile isn't bad for a quick ready made dish. If the eggplant was good i was going to try spinach or mushroom next. Other varieties could be more flavorful than the eggplant but they are too expensive at 6 10oz pouches to keep trying what I expect will most likely be bland as well. Unless the company sends me free samples of them. If you have a big appetite you will only get 1 serving per pouch of any given variety even over rice, barley, eggplant, zucchini etc.Texture was ok. Taste wasn't good or bad because it had none. It would have been much easier to use if I didn't have to add so much to it. It's not something you can just take to work for lunch to prepare quick unless you have access to spices at work, know exactly what you want to add to it, prepare the night before or unless you do eat bland foods. As I said I donated the other 5 to an elderly home. You can't get a refund on most food items so keep that in mind. Smell wasn't very strong either. On the bright side they seem to be healthy.
