Does this check valve need a threaded water container or is there a tightening nut for both ends?

It is intended to screw into a threaded hub on the tank. But I would expect that if you had a nut of the proper thread you could put it through an threaded hole in a tank (it comes with an O-ring that could serve as the gasket).By the way, this valve does not always shut off tightly. If you need to be absolutely sure no water runs back into the tank, this will disappoint you.Best regards,Doug

Is the plastic ball spring loaded?

No, it is held in place by gravity. The water flows upward, opening the valve, and when the water stops flowing, gravity pulls the ball back to the closed position.

Will this degrade if used with propylene glycol coolant?
