This is a great oil. I personally use it in the bath ...
This is a great oil. I personally use it in the bath to help with dry itchy skin. I follow it up with a home made lotion with a few drops of Neem oil in it. Has kind of a different smell but not bad especially when only using one drop per bath. I love the dropper lid it makes it easy to get the exact amount of oil I want to use. I really like now products they have a large selection for a great price.I like to put the oils I use to rub on topically in roller bottles. I dilute them 1:1 when I put them in the bottle. It is then easy to pick up the roller bottle and use without having to go through the hassle of diluting it each time I use it. It also keeps the oils off my fingers so I am less likely to rub my eyes and get essential oils in them.I love to have them diffusing throughout my house and I think they make a world of difference when I have a cold and diffuse them in my room at night. So what’s the deal with the FDA and essential oils? The FDA regulates products by their intended use; Cosmetic, drug, both cosmetic and drug, or other like laundry soap. How does the FDA determine a products intended use? By the marketing claims made in the labeling, advertising, and websites regarding those products. So what is the difference in how a product is classified? If the product is intended only to cleanse the body, make the person more attractive, or make them smell better it is a cosmetic. Cosmetics do not have to have FDA approval before they go on the market. The FDA will however take action if they have reliable information showing that it is unsafe for consumers. If the product is intended for a therapeutic use such as treating or preventing a disease then it is a drug. If it is classified as a drug it must meet strict safety guidelines as well as have ample research done to prove that it treats or prevents what it claims to treat or prevent before being placed on the market. [...]So why is this effecting essential oils? Currently essential oils are classified as cosmetic which means companies do not need FDA approval to market and sell their product. So why not market essential oils as drugs and have the FDA start regulating them? It take around 12 years and costs drug companies millions in product research and testing to get a newly developed drug approved by the FDA. [...]If you think the price of essential oils is expensive now the price would sky rocket if essential oil companies had to pay to go through the process of acquiring FDA approval prior to marking their product. So what does that mean for us as essential oil consumers? I personally love essential oils and am in no way ready to give them up or pay triple the price for them. It does mean however that we as consumers need to use them responsibly. Just as a medical doctor would never prescribe a patient a medication without knowing from experience or looking up the medication dose and route in a PDR. You should never use an essential oil for a supplement in your health maintenance without first looking up the dose and route in which it should be used. It is also important to know what contraindication or when you should avoid specific oils.I know that looking up information on essential oils can be hard to find especially with the FDA looking into essential oil companies. That is forcing the removal of all information regarding the therapeutic properties of essential oils. I personally have a book that I use to look up the dose and route as well as which oils to avoid based on my state of health. I know there are several books and websites out there with this information if you are using essential oils please take the time to look them up and use them responsibly.

Neem for cold sores.
I read that Neem is poison to cold sores. So true. I put a bit on my finger, dab and hold on cold sore for several seconds, and do this a few times a day. Within a couple of days it is pretty much gone. It may get a little dry and if so, just dab on some coconut oil until it softens up. I have never had anything work as well as Neem. Btw, it is a little stinky but if you want the cold sore gone you just have to deal with it.

Stinks to high heaven, but works heavenly! Comes in a dark amber glass dropper bottle!
Okay, let me just tell you up front that neem, real neem, smells SO bad - akin to dirty, wet socks sprinkled with a light dusting of curry powder. Now that that's out of the way - this oil is superb! Good quality and rich texture just as neem should have, and I have had no issues integrating this oil into my scalp treatments for hair growth and hydration, nail treatments to prevent fungus, and spot treatments for facial acne. Neem is known to be a wonderful anti-fungal, sulfur-encouraging (read: good for hair, skin, and nails), and anti-parasitic (good for houseplants and the garden!) 'medicine'. I am willing to put up with the smell of neem because of all of its great benefits. Warning: if you have a favorite piece of clothing or towel, try not to get any neem on it - it will be VERY hard for you to get the smell of neem out, and neem also tends to stain - it won't stain your skin, but it will stain your clothing/towels. Just be aware of that! This comes in a dark amber glass dropper bottle, which is great for minimizing mess, and enables precision of use. **Disclaimer: Please consult you doctor before using any oils, herbs, alternative medicines, etc. I am sharing my opinion and my opinion only - I claim NO responsibility for your usage or results!

Pungent Smell but is a Miracle Oil
Yes, as most people have mentioned the smell is quite pungent if not putrid if you were to try to use it on its own, but the benefits of this oil is worth the effort in using with other carrier oils. Due to hormones of my pregnancy I have developed perioral dermatitis. A condition that forms mostly in women and children with compromised immune systems. I had a friend with a child who developed the same dermatitis as a result from her chemotherapy. It is horrible to look at, embarrassing, and can hurt or itch when really inflamed. If you've ever had it, you know what I'm talking about. Nothing cures POD except time, good treatment of your skin, for some people harsh antibiotic medicines, and in my case once the baby is born my hormones should adjust and the POD should go away. I have researched and tried everything short of harsh medications. While somethings helped the POD nothing has made more of a healing impact on my skin than neem oil. It has reduced the dermatitis to almost nothing and has healed my skin in a way that I cannot complain about. I am not fully healed, again, my hormones adjusting after the baby will help with that; but as long as I'm using this oil I am so much closer to being healed than I have ever been in the months I've been dealing with this skin condition. To deal with the oil - which is sort of like garlic-dirt smell, but not in a good way - I use other oils mixed with a homemade salve. I use a neem oil soap first. Once my face is clean I put on my topical medicine Elidel, which is in a class of medicines called topical calcineurin inhibitor. Next in my palm I mix the smallest bit of lavender oil (reduces inflammation and smells 100% better than neem oil), tea tree oil (also smells better and helps with any breakouts caused by the POD), calendula oil (sooths the skin, reduces inflammation, healing), and just the smallest bit of neem oil. Next I mix this in my hand with a salve I made on my own made from 100% shea butter, coconut oil, bees wax, vitamin e oil, and some essential oils that are healing to the skin. I mix this all in my palms and apply it to my face. I don't smell the neem oil often, sometimes if I use a tiny bit too much or I go out directly in the sun I might smell it. Make sure if you use essential oils that you don't put them directly on your face but mix them with products or oils (shea butter, coconut oil, etc.) so to not burn or irritate your face. If you use the neem oil correctly it WILL heal you or nearly heal you of your skin conditions. In addition, from what I've read neem oil will also act as a hormone disruptor to fleas, lice, and scabies. It will reduce inflammation and irritation on the skin for various conditions. It has been being used for centuries to cure skin issues and while the smell is awful, it works. Use in small amounts continuously with other nice smelling oils and you should be seeing results very quickly.
