Security concern: while i'm at home and somebody knocks on the door, as i apporach the door to see who it is (with my phone on me), will the door auto

It does not automatically unlock the door while you're at home. It only auto-unlocks when you return home from far away.

What happens in a power outage?

The Aegis door lock is battery powered, and it connects to your phone via Bluetooth, so it's not affected by a power outage

Will this lock work without a wifi connection?

Yes, except for certain features which require internet access, including remote unlock, guest access, and Alexa/Google/IFTTT integration

Is this weather proof? Can it be used on a pedestrian gate with partially covered patio?

It doesn’t need to be weather proof because the main portion of the unit that would be of concern in bad weather is installed only on the inside part of your deadbolt lock, you know, like that little lever thing that you twist when locking the deadbolt on your door at night! Unless for some reason beyond my comprehension you have a place where you lock the deadbolt from the outside which would mean that you’re basically locking people or something inside that you don’t want getting out so if that’s the case then you got some creepy stuff going on and you’re probably a serial killer or human trafficker therefore let your victims go and turn yourself into the authorities because what kinda weirdo locks people inside! Lol! Anyway, aside from that you should have no worries about this particular system needing to be weather proof because like I mentioned all of the electrical/computer type of components are installed and function from the inside of your home as it’s basically a machine that twists your deadbolt lock lever for you! Now the other accessories/attachments that you can add on for additional ways to unlock the deadbolt such as either the combo pad or the fingerprint biometric reader which are sold separately and do go on the outside so I’m assuming they’re weatherproof otherwise it would be a waste although I couldn’t say for certain therefore I’d recommend checking to make sure prior to buying either of those add-ons!
