Perfect fit iPad mini 5 W/Case -- ESRI Field Maps / Field Data Collection
Update 1/10/2023 -- Review updated from 4 stars to five based on RAM Mounts EXCELLENT Customer Service. See details belowI just finished assembling the 8" spring-loaded Tab-Tite tablet holder and mounted an ipad mini 5 that's in a weatherproof case. My application involves mounting this Tab-Tite tablet holder / ipad mini 5 to a range pole for field data collection using a GNSS receiver. To make it work, I also purchased a RAM B size 1" ball with composite round plate (RAP-B-202U) that screws into the back of the Tab-Tite tablet tray. The composite ball arrived without any mounting hardware but the Tab-Tite tablet holder included 4 nylock nuts and 4 X 2 different size phillip head bolts. The shorter of the two bolt options allowed for the composite round plate to be mounted securely onto the back of the Tab-Tite holder and bolts remained recessed into the tray so there is no interference with the ipad.Assembly of the Tab-Tite tablet holder involves mounting 2X "cups" to the top (X1) and bottom (X1) of the tray. The top cup is screwed onto a spring loaded assembly that allow for it to be pulled out and automatically retracts, capturing the tablet in place. The bottom cup is fixed in place. The tab-tite parts index shows 10X 7/16" self tapping phillips head screws. Five of these screws are used to attach the top cup and five are used to attach the bottom cup. These screws should be inserted with caution because they bite into plastic to secure the cups and even slight overtightening could result in them stripping out. Unfortunately, the hardware supplied with my Tab-Tite was incomplete and I only received 9 of the required 10 screws. This is the reason for the original four star review instead of five.Update: 1/10/2023 -- I reached out to RAM Mounts customer support via email about the missing part. They responded the following day via email, apologizing for the packing error. The missing part was shipped the same day!For my application, A size B 1" ball will be mounted to a 1.25" diameter range pole using RAM Mounts RAM-B-408-112-15U. This will allow me to join the Tab-Tite to the range pole 1" ball using a RAM Mounts RAP-B-201U Composite Double Socket Arm. The double socket arm is available in medium and short length. I purchased a medium arm but a short arm would work as well and would not be the limiting factor for range of motion if used. I kinda wish I had gone with the short arm so the weighted ipad and mount didn't stick out so far from the range pole.My 5th generation ipad mini 5 was put in a "waterproof case" also purchased right here on Amazon! The case was sold by "Transy" and the product description reads: "iPad Mini 5 Case -- Waterproof Case for iPad Mini 5th Generation Full Body Bumper Case with Built in Screen Protector Drop Proof Anti Scratch Anti Shock Clear Case Cover 7.9" 2019." Review might get denied for a link but I'll try:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TJ446TL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1This case could not provide a better fit for the 8" Tab-Tite. I would have guessed this case and tablet mount were made for each other (see photo). The RAM Mount Tab-Tite provides a secure fit with this combination and there is an opening at the bottom of the mount that allows for a lightening cable to fit the ipad port so the device can be charged/ powered externally while in use. That's the good news for the case, unfortunately the copy I received arrived used (purchased new) and the front cover is uneven and loose. I'll be doing a review on the case later. If I can receive a quality copy of this case I'll have a securely mounted and well protected ipad mini 5 running ESRI Field Maps for outdoor survey/ data collection.

Good mount
Good mount but doesn't fit my Galaxy a7 with an armor case. The mount will hold the tablet but just doesn't fit into the pockets. armor case is too thick. Also there is no mounting ball the back of mount. They give you hardware but you have to buy a flat base ball mount. Other than that seems like a good mount.

iPad mini-Yes Samsung 6" tablet - No
I bought a cheap Samsung 6" tablet to run a Navionics boating app. This will not fit. The X grip for phones will fit the Samsung. However, this fits the iPad mini well. I keep my iPad mini in a case with a flip cover. There is enough room to fold the cover back and put it into this mount. There is a little looseness in the sense that I can shake it and it will move fore and aft a little, but it doesn't seem to be in any danger of falling out. If it gets to be an issue, I feel a little foam tap on on the backside of the mount will tighten things up fine.If you look at the mount, it looks vertically symmetrical. However, there is a definite top and bottom in that most of the mount mounts to the ball receptor and the top slides in and out to hold the tablet in. Make sure that you have the mount so the springy expandable part is at the top so the weight of the tablet is not trying to open the jaws.

Ram mounts tablet holder
Easy to install and use, good quality and great price! I ride off road a lot and this thing holds my tablet even through a occasional jump or two and no problem!

Holds an iPad Mini Including the Case
I'm using this mount in a single-engine airplane. I previously had a Ram mount the was designed for an iPad Mini 3. One thing that I didn't like about it was that I had to remove the iPad from its case in order to fit it into the mount. When I bought a new iPad Mini 4, it didn't fit in my old mount so I needed a new mount. With this mount I can leave it in the case. The device pops in and out with ease, but there seem to be little chance that it could fall out due to turbulence. If I had purchased this mount to begin with, I wouldn't have to change mounts just because Apple decided to add a fraction of an inch to the iPad.I found that in my aircraft the mount works best when mounted upside-down to the ball adapter. I also offset it by using only two screws in the adapter. Doing these little tweaks gives me an unobstructed view of my instrument panel; and two screws seem to be completely adequate.

Construction
I like everything about these mounts they are very solid even with alot of vibration in the truck they move very little. I don't think I'll have to buy another phone mount unless I just wanna put one in the car but these are very versatile you can move them from vehicle to boat to car back to truck without any major hassle best design I have seen in a long time don't know how the other have made it in the market with this out there.
