Why are the instructions simultaneously microscopic AND devoid of helpful information on how to connect?

Avoid this keyboard. Returning it is your best line of action. It does not work. Period. Several users reported the same issue: the cursor jumps all over. And you are right, the instructions to connect it aren't clear nor intuitive. I totally forgot hw to do it and releasing that piece of information from my brain probably also help to reduce headaches. Make yourself a favor and buy the original pricy Microsoft keyboard.

is it compatable with linux?

Are you planning to override Windows and make Linux the main OS in a Microsoft machine? That's bold!!😉 This is a Bluetooth keyboard. Hence, you may need a USB keyboard first to set everything up (i.e add Linux as booting OS, configure the drivers once is running , etc) This keyboard has nothing special than any other Bluetooth device. On another note, I returned it because too many false keystrokes and sudden mousepad actions that made it unusable.

Is this keyboard actually matte black or closer to gray?

The keys and pad are black, the surround is closer to charcoal grey.

Stops Working Randomly

I have loved using this keyboard, but there are some issues with functioning. I will charge the keyboard until I get the green light, and it will still not turn on. I have even bought a second one thinking something was wrong with my first one, but it did the same thing. It just stopped working.

Good for typing Not good for scrolling

I wanted to like this keyboard but I can’t. It does everything it is supposed to, but when you have to scroll using 2 fingers something happens and it causes your web browser to zoom in or out. So I guess if you don’t plan on using tge touchpad it will work well.

Keyboard stopped working after 2 and a half months.

I purchased this keyboard for my Surface Pro 4 on Sept 2nd, 2023 and it stopped working about mid Nov. The charge stopped holding. I looked up the return procedure and noticed the return window closed Oct 2nd, 2023. I called and left a message. They did call back and made a suggestion to charge it fully and directly into a wall outlet. Charger turned green, but once I connected it to my tablet it turned red and shut off. I tried it again about a dozen times. Deeming it dead. Horrible life span of charger-I lost my $. Unacceptable service to consumers who are struggling right now to make ends meet. Do not recommend this product or seller.
