Hoodman Compact HoodLoupe Optical Viewfinder for 3.2" LCD Displays

I wondered why this loupe cost so much until it arrived (a day early! Paid for 2-day shipping and got it the next day!). It is good quality rubber, good optics and a great diopter with enough adjustment even for me who needs a +3 for viewing laptop computer screens. It also comes with a nice, light weight case and a neck strap so you can just leave it on your neck and quickly grab it. I got it for my still/video camera because I couldn't see much of any subject matter that didn't take up a sizable portion of the 3.2" view-screen. Used in the collapsed position it zooms in even more without changing the diopter. Great product, no doubt for year to come.

Oh, my Goodness get this Loupe. I ware glasses to read so seeing a clear vision of my screen on the camera is a must. Not only can the loupe adjust to my vision, the screen is magnified greatly and all other light bouncing off the screen is gone. Pure, clear, wonderful magnification. A must have for any photographer that demands to get it as close as possible before going to post.

If you're the type that likes to have all the accessories and gadgets, you will enjoy this product. It is very well made and works exactly as advertised. The advantage of this model over earlier ones is that it folds in upon itself, making it a little more compact. It's most useful for reviewing your images on the camera LCD while outdoors, because it blocks out all the outside light. If you have a mirrorless camera with a viewfinder that allows you to review your images in the viewfinder, I don't think you would need this. But it's a nice DSLR accessory, and it's made by a small American company. The owners are nice guys to talk to on the phone. They also make high end SD cards which are targeted to pros and videographers.

It's expensive but worth it if you shoot a lot in bright light and can't see your viewfinder. Chimping is something we all do who shoot digital and with the Hoodman Compact HoodLoupe Optical Viewfinder you'll never squint again and seek shade to view what you just captured. Recommend to all serious photographers.

I spent the 100 dollars for this eye loupe. It does work as advertised. It's great to have in bright sunlight to check the images on the LCD. BUT I won't purchase it again. The rectangle area of the loupe is made of plastic instead of metal. The plastic frame can be easily broken and I have been unable to find a glue or epoxy that will secure it back together. Unless you're going to pamper this eye loupe while out in the field, I wouldn't spend my hard earned money on it. I would purchase a less expensive version. There are versions on the market that are half the price of the Hoodman.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago after going on an outdoor photo workshop.The instructor had one that everyone was constantly borrowing. After purchasing my own, I found that both my husband and I used it all the time to quickly review pics outside when the sun was bright. I have since bought two additional ones - for my husband and our daughter. It blocks the light effectively, allowing you to get a more accurate review of exposure, focus and detail. The ability to adjust the magnification is also very useful. Highly recommend!

I ended up returning this. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I have the older Hoodman loupe and even collapsed it's about the same footprint.

great for sunny days, need to approach carefully as it has a tendency to collapse with pressure. Neat and fits in bag easily.
