Awesome combination microwave oven
I am in love with this microwave. So far, I have used the convection function as well as the microwave function. It is a powerful appliance and heats up food evenly. The convection function is great and I used it to make lasagna (which came out delicious). There is no rotating glass plate and the inside is stainless steel which makes it so much easier to clean in less time. Just be careful after using grill or convection settings, if you want to use the microwave immediately after. It is best to wait for the appliance to cool down after using grill/convection, if you want to use the microwave function next. In terms of size, it is a bit bigger than I expected but it fits perfectly on the kitchen top as my husband compared the size of the microwave with the kitchen table before buying. Overall, it is an awesome purchase and would definitely recommend if you want a versatile microwave.

Would recommend.
After my old Combination Oven gave up the ghost I wanted try one without the hassle of a turntable and boy, what a revelation! A million times better than the fiddle of a turntable, so much so that I’d never go back to having one again. Love the shiny black oven base that nothing sticks to and love the grill which works really well. I can’t imagine why other reviewers say the grill isn’t very good as I think it’s fantastic (maybe they’ve improved it as mine is a slightly later model). The only drawbacks are that the buttons are difficult to see, but maybe that’s because my kitchen isn’t very well lit, and the convection oven doesn’t seem to quite reach the temperature it is programmed to. I have to go up 10 or so degrees to compensate but that’s no hardship. Overall I’m very pleased with this Combination Oven and would recommend it to everyone.

Not hot enough
This is a lovely little machine... But there's a big but! Very competitive price, for the full works of flatbed microwave, proper fan convection oven, and grill. And the flatbed really is so much better than any turntable! Controls are pretty simple and efficient, though ila little hard to see, and it would be nice to be able to turn off the child lock function. Here's the but: convection temperature is consistently 20-40deg below what it's supposed to be! I've had four of these now, over a long enough period to eliminate the bad batch problem, and they've all been the same. When preheating, it stops at 20-30deg below target, though this reduces slightly after a minute. When running at supposedly 230, it barely tops 200 at any time, and set at 180 it even drops below 150. Granted you can make allowances by always setting a higher temperature than needed, but it never gets properly hot! Shame, because it's otherwise really nice.

Just read first
4 stars because the manual that comes with it, is a Quick Start Guide, not the USER MANUAL that you need to get on and use it -- some things cannot be guessed SHARP! Go to Sharp the website using the product code YC-GC52B and download it -- I know that's a pain because who has their laptop, or worse, desktop, sat next to the microwave as you are trying to familiarise yourself with your new device? I will be honest this really knocked my enthusiasm flat, because the one I did get, though it looks exactly the same on the front, has two pages of basic info and 9 pages of warnings, the focus is on the negatives not the cool things it can do. So the one on the website actually tells you what the preset programmes are, it tells you what power saving means (Eco Mode), it tells you about the microwave levels, what LOC means, and how to use the childlock feature, and it has a troubleshooting guide -- though it does seem to steer you away from calling them, with the section actually called 'BEFORE CALLING FOR ASSISTANCE', can you imagine how annoyed they'd be if I rang just to ask where's the *actual* user manual? Because there is no where in the Quick Start Guide that it tells you to go to the website and download it and frankly, the 25 page actual manual was the one to put in if you could only afford the paper for one of the two SHARP! So major oversight on the part of SHARP. Bear in mind also, that it's a crazily deep machine, with a weird awkward rounded back like an old TV, which makes placing it on a work top awkward because it doesn't naturally go square to the wall or countertop and needs another 10cm clearance at the back. I tried to put it under my on-worktop microwave shelf, which had previously had a far bigger Panasonic inverter steam combi under it, but the SHARP didn't fit because of the gubbins at the back. Aside from that, I feel it was a little cheap of SHARP to not use the kind of coating on their oven tray to allow it to be in for a combination of micro and grill, it can only be used for oven or grill. And that grill... your sausages will fall right through. Looks good though, but is that enough? Time will tell. UPDATE: If you collect all the moisture it generates to scramble eggs (just eggs, no added water), and donate it to the waterboard, the country wouldn't be in drought. It needs drying every time or it drips from the bottom of the door. I'm knocking off another star for this.

The Kitchen Multitasker You Didn’t Know You Needed
Out of the box, the Sharp YC-GC52BU-B looks sleek and modern without taking over your kitchen. It fits nicely on the counter and has a clean, easy-to-read digital display, no tech degree required to use it. At 900 watts, it heats food faster than your average microwave and does so quietly... no loud, annoying noises here. What sets this apart is the combination cooking feature, letting you microwave, grill, and use convection heat all in one. It’s perfect for crisping up pizza crusts or roasting veggies, like a mini oven without the long preheat time. Plus, with auto-cook settings, it can handle everything from soup to jacket potatoes. With 25 liters of space, it’s big enough for most meals but doesn’t take up too much room. It’s ideal for everyday tasks like reheating, defrosting, and cooking. In short, the Sharp YC-GC52BU-B is a versatile, reliable microwave that also works as a grill and convection oven. If you want something that does more without cluttering your kitchen, this one’s a winner.
