Q: Why does this cost so much compared to other chefs knives that claim to be the sharpest in the world, and have the reviews to back it up?

The core is SG2. Good luck finding SG2 steel at a budget price. Edge retention will be superior, and you'll be able to sharpen to a finer angle than possible with softer steels. You also have to take into account this is a top brand, reputable, and this is one of their more premier knives.

Q: how many years to be sharpened, five or ten years ?

How often the knife needs to be sharpened is dependent on how the knife is used. Leave it in the drawer and never use it and it will never need to be sharpened. Misuse it once and it will need to be sharpened. Always use a cutting board of wood or hard plastic. Never use the knife to cut on metal, ceramic or glass surfaces. Don't try to hack through bones. The SG2 metal (which is a stainless steel) is not the hardest metal but it is harder than all German steels. All knives have to be sharpened when they get dull. YouTube, "how to sharpen a knife".

You need to hone your knife before and after every use. Sharpen maybe once a year. Send it to Shun (Kershaw) and they will sharpen it or repair it for no cost.
