Installing the Tado
My 4 star rating is only because my Tado has only been installed and operating for a week, so it's early days and I can't yet be sure what, if any, energy savings it will deliver. But, so far so good. The installation wasn't quite as simple as the impression that some of the reviews might gave me, but then Tado say that they can connect you with a local installer, so don't be put off if you can see long term benefits once the Tado is installed.Firstly, you have to remove your existing thermostat, which means you have to identify what the make is and, more particularly, the model is, in order to progress through the (very helpful and smart) installation instructions. In order for me to do this I had to isolate it from power, open it and detach it from the wall in order to read the model number on the rear of the thermostat. Using the box they provide to safely isolate the wires is fidley, but doable with care and patience. The next step is to identify the make, and again most importantly, the model of your existing programmer/controller. As the instructions stress, isolating the heating system from the power is essential before you try to take it off the wall the read the model number which is on the rear. At least it was on my Honeywell unit. Fitting the Tado box, which completely replaces your existing programmer/controller, has to be carefully undertaken as obviously following the instructions and connecting the wires up correctly is essential. I found the online instructions helpful and clear. My old programmer/controller is beside the boiler with slightly constrained access, which made carrying out the swap, in particular releasing the existing wiring "loom" and reconnecting into the Tado box, fidley. The fact is however, I'm no trained electrician, but I did it safely and successfully.I'm now in the phase when (I hope) the Tado is "learning". I have registered 3 mobile units and I assume that it is now learning how long each individual standard return home journey for each of us takes so that it can workout when to switch the heating on to bring the house up to temperature in time for the first arrival. I guess it is also learning about the characteristics of our house, I.e. How quickly the house looses temperature and how much heating is required to bring up the temperature. Right now I'm optimistic that Tado will enable me to make good energy savings, but don't yet know how much.

Fantastic support.
Fantastic!I spent a lot of time researching different smart thermostats like the Nest etc.I wanted something that would control my hot water as well as my heating and was intelligent enough to figure out when I was away from home. Nest only detects your presence when you walk past it, and since I don't do that very often in my house it was a non-starter (and it doesn't control your hot water).Hive didn't have occupancy detection, neither did the Owl Intuition nor the Salus iT500 nor the Honeywell Evo.Having purchased the Tado I'm really happy- it works exactly as advertised and their support is *excellent*. I needed a little help because I had told Tado the wrong model number for my boiler controller- they were excellent and even stayed on the line after closing time to make sure that my install was working perfectly.Top marks all round. Really impressed with them.

Amazing device
I love my Tado. Already bought it a 2nd time as a birthday present for my uncle. Been using it for a while now and can only recommend it. Probably saved around £150-200 with it during last winter time! Installation was pretty easy, and when I move houses in a few months my Tado is definitely coming with me.
