Middle Level ISEE: 1000+ Practice Questions

I love the abundance of test questions, and a student I tutor, who just entered 6th grade, was doing fairly well with the language portions, but the math was way over her head, as most of it was beyond what she will even learn this year, in the 6th grade, and she is going to an excellent private school. As I also tutored her older brother in the upper level ISEE workbook put out by this company, I noticed that many of the exercises and questions were extremely similar. I even noticed the same reading passages in both books. So, I do feel the authors need to distinguish a bit more between the Upper Level ISEE workbook material and the Middle Level ISEE material. Other than that, the book is great, except that there is no explanatory material, only test questions. I would still recommend this workbook for those in 7th grade to prepare for the test, but for newly minted 6th graders, it is well over their heads, particularly in the math portions.

I would say this book would be appropriate at about a $20 price point and used primarily to become accustomed to the format of the actual examination and strategies for each subtest. We only had about 2 weeks to use this book, and we utilized most of it, As you can not determine an estimated percentile rank, you can only look at percentage of questions answered correctly and compare your 1st practice test to your 2nd one (there are only 2)My daughter found the actual exam to be much more difficult than this practice book - which gave us a false sense of confidence. Her actual percentile of correct responses (not percentile rank) was MUCH lower on the actual test in both Mathematical Achievement and Reading Comprehension.If you are utilizing this book to become accustomed to format - it is good. If you want something to challenge your student and prepare them for the rigors of the actual test - look elsewhere.

We bought SSAT middle level last year yet it was not very helpful. This year we choose to test ISEE and will give another chance to see if this series is helpful or not. I will review back after my daughter is tested.

This is an excellent test prep book.

I am a big fan of Upper-Level ISEE by Tutorverse. Love how they have ample practice questions, relevant reading comp section (it's a lot better than success on the middle level test book by Abbott or the pink Ivy Global Middle Level Diagnostic Tests though! ). However, Middle Level is not as good as upper level. Some synonyms are too ambiguous. There is no way it can be a match. After finding couple of them on diagnostic, I was hoping that other pages will be better but no. I am hoping Tutorverse will come up with an upgraded edition.

This is an excellent choice for ISEE preparation. As a tutor, I really enjoy using this book with my students. The practice problems are organized by topic, making it easy to target and area of content that needs work. The diagnostic and practice test are perfect for keeping track of a student's progress, and great for a student to gain exposure to full length practice tests.

This book is an amazing resource for tutors and students alike. The questions are well-thought out and high quality, and the sheer number of questions makes for great practice. Also appreciated how the practice sections are grouped, so that you can focus on one content topic for a while before moving on to the next one. Would definitely recommend!

This, along with their other book, was recommended by a friend. It lays out the core principles of the tests and I believe that this will definitely prepare them for their exams and continue to do well in school. I only wish I had ordered them earlier.
