Q: I’m looking for a bed with little or no metal components. What are the metal parts in this bed?

Hi, if you scroll through the advertised photos, you will see there is a metal support piece that runs lengthwise down the center of the bed. Other than that, there are, I believe, just one screw/bolt for each of the corners. I was pleasantly surprised with the solid construction of this bed. I, also, felt that the velcro and dowels do a good job to keep the wooden slats in place underneath the mattress. Hope that helps.

Q: Is it better to put a bunkie board on this bed?

We started with having a large piece of cardboard under my mattress at first. Then discovered it moved around too much. Toon off the cardboard and the mattress stays nicely in place now. The slats are so close together you really do not need anything else under the mattress.
