Concise and goes to the core
Without continually abiding in Christ through unbroken fellowship and communion with Him, our self efforts will fail. Andrew Murray repeatedly goes to the heart of the matter--- Everything is in Christ and Christ is everything.

A book to live by!
This is an incredible encouragement to the Christian life! It’s one that I will read over and over again. It is so personal and so straight to the point. You will not go wrong reading this.

Convicting
This read was convicting and eye opening. I have spent my whole life in the church and Murray’s words still struck home. I have much to chew on and work on in my personal life. What is our Christian walk if we are not completely surrendered?

Surrender
Why wouldn't I surrender to someone who loved me enough to surrender His own life in exchange for mine, who only has my best interests at heart?

Truth is never old
It is such a shame that today's Christians have no interest in reading anything but contemporary Christian books written by contemporary Christian authors. There is such a treasure trove of wisdom to be found written by "old-fashioned" men and women of the 19th century. This book is one of them. This book, and many others like it, should be treated as if they are "hot off the press", new works of literature. Forget about when they were written. After all, the Bible, though ancient, is as relevant today as it was when it was penned.God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. Truth is truth regardless of whatever age we live in. When you hear (or read) truth, it resonates. It affirms what you have experienced when you study God's Word. You will instinctively sense an "amen" or a deep sense of conviction that you immediately recognize as from the Holy Spirit. This book is filled with those moments.I chose to read it as a devotional. That allowed me to pause and digest, reflect and pray over each and every nugget of wisdom it imparted.I highly recommend readers to incorporate these classics into their library. You'll find they are refreshment and nourishment for your soul.

A reminder that the basic questions remain the same
It is sometimes startling to read a book about the Christian faith aimed at a general audience that is free of late twentieth and early twenty-first century angst or psychological dilemmas or a popular theology book that doesn’t veer into the Christian self-help genre. What did Christians read, or used to read, when they were seeking to understand difficult Scripture passages, learn about Christian living, or answer basic questions about their faith. One author they read was Andrew Murray (1828-1917).Murray, the son of a Dutch Reformed minister and missionary, was born in South Africa, educated in Scotland, became a missionary and pastor himself in South Africa, and authored more than 240 books on faith, theology, and Christian living. He lived during the century of Darwin, Marx, and Freud, the triumvirate of thinkers who many believe permanently closed the book on the Christian faith. And yet he remained steadfast in his belief and wrote book after book to encourage others in the faith.“Absolute Surrender: The Blessing of Forsaking All and Following Christ” is one of those more than 240 books. It is aimed at Christians who are seeking to deepen their faith and are asking the question, what does it mean to forsake all, or what he calls “absolute surrender.”What he describes is a process. He starts by explaining what it means to be filled with Holy Spirit and how it changes the believer. He describes the roles of conviction and confession. He discusses the example of Peter in the New Testament. He explains the blessings which result from absolute surrender, and how it is to be lived out. He shows the results of surrender. He notes that Christians can continue in the process only through the active involvement of God. And he asks the question, what does it mean to be a branch to the vine? The account is simple. It’s straightforward. It’s free of a lot of the stuff we add to Christian faith today. It is written from a perspective of assurance – doubt and questions are normal, and it is through both that one’s faith deepens – in the context of reliance on God to provide the answers. To read a work like this, written in the 19th century, is something of a relief. Some very fundamental things have not changed, as much as we like to believe we’re smarter, wiser, and more intelligent than people used to be. Look at our technology! And we have the internet! The basic questions remain the same. The human heart remains the same. And the God we worship remains the same.

Absolute Surrender
Good book. I wanted an ebook in the original print version and did not realize this wasn’t it. No reason to “update” an already great classic.

Challenge to Christlikeness
It would be nearly impossible for an honest believer to read this book and not realize the depth of a relationship with God yet to be realized. Absolute surrender is the process and event in which every trace of self ruling our lives is removed. We need the Holy Spirit to achieve His will in our lives. Self cannot and will not remove itself. Only God through his Holy Spirit "works both to will and to do His good pleasure."

Please read if you want to experience the power of God in greater measure
The only way to truly experience God and all He is to surrender completelyThis book is only for the soul that is determined to live out God's original purpose for creating man!Andrew makes the scriptures practical with examples and He goes lengths to explain every concept such that the reader understands the why beyond mere knowledge! While reading this book my determination to allow God fill me with all of Him was re-enforced and I learned that, all I really had to do was desire it and it's God's job and pleasure to make it happen!
