Initially I was a confused by all the houses and decendants of the gods in the way they were presented from the first chapters. Passages that read e.g. the old god did this, the new god did that, the imposter etc were a little trying to get my head around, but as the story progressed it was easier to follow the events and characters. The keys at the start and end of the book explaining the houses and characters also helped and I suggest they be read. The characters were written naturally, flawed but ultimately likeable. My favourite being Van (Evander Achilleos - decendant of Achilles. The eponymous character Lore (Melora Perseous - descended from Perseus) was both strong and weak which made her an interesting protagonist. Her internal struggle in regards to her past and future really helped to drive the story forward and added a feminist perspective. I don't expect or require authors to be overtly political in their writing and where there was, what I perceived to be, instances of this in the book it came across more like appeasement rather than a statement, so for anyone who cares more about a good fantasy story than reading an author's socio-political opinions, you won't feel preached to. There are two main romances in the book (m/f & m/m) and both were so sweet and endearing, playing into the opposites attract clichรฉ which is by far the most stimulating pairing (imo) I was really rooting for both couples and after almost 550 pages of tense action and uncertainty, I was more than satisfied with the book's ending, which I galloped towards with palpitations. A lot of readers have likened the book to Hunger Games and I suppse that's a fair comparison, but they differ in one major aspect, this is not a dystopian novel. This is less concerned with humanity's future and rather our past. I love ancient mythologies, particularly Greek, and the stories and legends woven into this contemporary novel is really well done. It proves their relevancy even thousands of years since their conception.

๐ธ๐น๐ฒ๐ท๐ฒ๐ธ๐ท: This was a very good book. I feel like this would be one of those books where 50% hate it and 50% love it but to me I loved it. The only thing I would advise is to know a decent amount of Mythology before going into it because the world-building expects you to, You don't need to know a lot just a decent amount and the map and mythology lines chart will help. It is important to note that there is VERY VERY little romance in here but I thought it was enough because the plot itself was more than enough. !!!SPOILERS AHEAD!!! ๐น๐ต๐ธ๐ฝ: The world-building at first was going kind of slow but I think it went more slow because there were things we needed to see them solve their problem in the end. I LOVED LOVED LOVED it when Lore jumped in front of Castor (even though he ended up protecting her in the end it was her willingness to do so for him and how he strained his strength to save her) and how Van had jumped over Miles. They had this part where Castor says "don't touch her" and Vans "don't touch him" I loved the parallel and the subplot of Castor and Lore's romance and also the tinier subplot of Van and Miles. It made me so Sad Castor had to involuntarily leave for 7 years and watch his dad die and everyone he loved live his life without him. It made me so mad that they had the two girls in the bull statue because they didn't do anything But I like how it shows how inhumane and out of touch these gods are and why Apollo did what he did. I'm glad they used Medusa's real story and how Lore resonated with her and escaped and how her scar can remind her of what happened or how she chose her fate and pushed through life. Wrath killing his own son shows how far he was consumed by his power even when Belen was trying to save him, It was so sad to read. ๐๐ต๐ธ๐ฝ ๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ: Athena being a traitor was such a surprise to me but showed how she was selfish and unwilling to change when the answer was right in front of her and stuck to her ways which got her punished in the first place. ๐ฌ๐พ๐ฝ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ท๐ฐ๐ผ ๐๐ช๐ผ๐ฝ๐ธ๐ป ๐ญ๐ฒ๐ญ: - When he tells her bad jokes because he doesn't like to see her sad - when he was sick and still stood up for her - how he didn't want to miss practice even when he felt ill because she wouldn't get to spare and he wanted to see her "๐ ๐ธ๐ข๐ด ๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฏ ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฅ๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ๐ด - ๐๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฃ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ, ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฅ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฎ, ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ."
