Do not buy this Z-Wave “siren”
I really wanted this device to work—I was going to put it in my garage and screw it into the outlet. But it’s terrible on every count, and I regret having bought it. I wish I had spent the money on another Aeotec siren.First issue is that the screw hole doesn’t line up with the screw in the middle of the faceplate for a U.S. outlet, so I think that advertised feature is just false and you can’t actually screw it into the outlet (at least in the United States) for security. Maybe in some other country?Second, this device is difficult to make work with SmartThings because it’s not recognized as a siren. You can go into the SmartThings IDE and assign it to the “Z-Wave Siren” device handler, and then SmartThings will treat it like a siren, but then you can’t get access to the other features of the device. And the device handler that Ecolink provides on their website is no more useful than is the default “Z-Wave Multichannel Device” handler that SmartThings assigns by default.Third, the four tones that the device can make are all bizarre—none of them are what you would expect from a “chime” or a “siren”. The sound sort of like sound effects from an original Gameboy. If someone were to break into my garage and hear this “siren”, they might think my garage-door opener was malfunctioning or something, but they wouldn’t think they had tripped any alarm. The biggest problem, however, is that the siren is just not very loud. You have to make physical adjustments to these little “jumpers” inside the device to switch it from “quiet” to “loud”, but even then, it’s really not loud enough to function as a siren.

Too Quiet
This unit would have checked all the boxes. Plug in, battery backup, chimes, siren and not bad to look at. Only one problem... it's not loud enough for emergency purposes during sleep. If all you need is multi-sound unit while awake, this would be great. Had to send it back.

Not a Siren - Low Volume Noise Maker
I really wanted this to work and I like Echolink products but this product is terrible. The good news is that it quickly installs on a Vera Plus Controller but the bad news is that the volume is very low. I went through all of the jumper settings trying to get more volume out of it but the best I could get was 61db of noise volume and it doesn't sound like a siren. Pass up this item because it isn't a good product and I wish I hadn't purchased it.

Not loud enough and not enough variety for sounds
I bought this to use as an adhoc doorbell. I had been buying a different battery operated brand, but sourcing is scarce for that one now. I tried this Ecolink device out and was very disappointed. The device is huge compared to other Z-Wave devices, and the sounds that it makes are as loud as a cricket..that's it. It does have a volume adjustment, which is backwards from what you would assume (i.e. counter-clockwise increases volume). Even with the volume at maximum, You would never hear this chime if your TV was on. Given the size of the device, it should have a piezo siren inside to rival your home alarm. I tried the jumpers to switch between siren and chime...no significant difference. There do not appear to be any Z-wave+ discoverable parameters to change the sounds. I have been pleased with other Ecolink Z-wave devices, but I have to strongly recommend against purchasing this one.

Pretty good so far
I bought this siren to pair up with moisture/water leak detector so that I can tell if my water heater is leaking or discharging water. Installation was super easy. On new smartthings/samsung app I added the device by using + sign. Siren was plugged in and already in pair mode (blue LED flashing). Within seconds 4 siren devices were detected and added to my smartthings hub. Each one has a different sound pattern. First one is the actual siren type noise which I am using currently but others can be used with motion detector or for door open close. My only complaint so far is that noise level is not too loud. So if folks are in other rooms with door closed, they may not hear it. I have placed it on my hallway between bedrooms currently.

Alarm.com Simon XTI-5 - Yes as a Siren
Will install with Alarm.com Simon XTI-5 as a Siren automatically. Loud and plugs in the wall with onboard battery backup. I hoped this would install as a "outlet" allowing me to only have it triggered when smoke alarms go off, but it installed as a siren. That would be due to the XTI-5 alarm.com version not the EcoLink itself. The XTI-5 does allow this to only be triggered by smoke detectors though.
