I have found this to be a very good product, which is particularly good for small tropical fish such as guppies and the like. I have used this for a long time now and the fish keep reproducing, so I must be doing something right! I also give the fish other food, but I consider these micro pellets to be a very important part of their diet.

This is my first purchase of HIKARI MICRO PELLETS, but i already had good results using hikari bio gold plus for my flowehorn. My RED SWORD TAILS. These little ones are with me for more than eight years, may be the fifth generations now, So i take efforts to get good quality fish food for my little pets. I am sharing my first hand impression of this fish food. WHAT I LIKED: 1)The micro pellets are really micro pellets as described, smaller than the mini pellets from brands like Osaka green and optimum red pellets. Slightly bigger than the hikari fancy guppy which bought a week before in local pet store. 2) Dark red in colour with strong fishy smell than any other fish food I have already used. I am not surprised about my fish accepting it in the first serve itself, because mine is not picky eaters, they eat what ever comes in, but the speed at which they consumed says that they like the flavour. The size is perfect for 2 month old fry to adults. My fish comfortably swallowed it with ease. 3)No wastages, no fatalities. I can't comment on water clouding because I have not over fed to see wastages. 4)The protein content is 43%, sure a good one to raise healthy pets. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: 1)These pellets sink very quickly, floats just below two minutes, the smallest vibration due to fish rushing for food will make it sink, so I switch off the air pump for 15 minutes to make it comfortable to feed on. 2) These pellets can't be scooped out, in case of accidentally feeding in excess. 3)The most important thing is, it is too expensive for 22g. MRP is around 550, I bought it for 309. I am happy I received a latest stock. Shelf life is 2 years. Even for the quality and Protein content, I feel this is much expensive when compared to other locally available fish foods which only costs around 70 per 100g. 4) I have around 50 plus nos of swordtails altogether, both in my office and home, so quantity vs pricing is not pocket friendly. I didn't rate 5 stars for these reasons. My verdict about this fish food is, I am quite happy and satisfied trying this food as of now. This is definitely a quality fish food for community tanks with small mouthed fish like swords, guppy, tetras, molly, angel, etc, if pricing is not a concern. OTHER FISH FOOD DIETS I AM USING: I always train my pets to accept varied mixed diets from different brands. I feed high protein content fish food (40% plus protein) as well as low protein content food (below 30%). My present fish foods consists of hikari fancy guppy, hikari micro pellets, optimum mini pellets, Osaka green, and hikari first bites for just borns, which I feed very little near the live plants. I feed live blood worms, before doing partial water change. NEVER OVER FEED. TRY VERY SMALL AMOUNT INITIALLY TO KNOW HOW QUICK THE FISH CONSUMES. Hope it helps.
