This filter housing is a reliable and affordable way to set up whole house water filtration. It was easy to install and works perfectly with standard filter cartridges. The quality seems great, ensuring clean water throughout my home!

Seems like the only ones that are bursting are the clear ones, and leaks at the pipe connections on the blue ones. Put some pipe seal on threads, a good thread sealer, and should do the trick. I got the blue one.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I had a persistent leak due to a messed up o-ring, and they were really helpful and replaced the system right away. Have observed no loss of flow or pressure. One suggestion: put a 1/4 inch piece of luan or plastic behind the mounting plate, this gives the input and output pipes a little wiggle room-helpful for us amateur plumbers.

Product is exactly what I needed, the filter and mounting bracket are robust, The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because 1 of the 2 O-rings ( top one ) of the filter body is difficult to keep in place while installing. But the old mechanics trick of using a little Vaseline in the channel to keep it in its place works well.

I bought this unit because of the great flow rate. It has metal input and output fittings which allow for both teflon tape and joint compound to prevent leaks. It works great.

We have well water with heavy sediment/heavy iron. We have a 100 micron, jumbo, self flushing spin down sediment filter that is INCREDIBLY EFFECTIVE, then this canister with a 50 micron filter, then finally a standard size whole house with a 5 micron filter. Because our problem was at times extreme, this set up effectively corrected our issue. The spin down back washes every 3 days, this large cartridge we hose the filter once monthly, this has extended the life of the 5 micron to requiring a change about every three months. When we started, we had a standard spin down, with a 200 micron filter, going straight to a 5 micron. Both would clog anywhere between 2-4 weeks. The key was to increase the pre filters (spin down and canister) to jumbo sizes, and to make sure the initial spin down is back washed every few days, and your filter screen sizes are the correct micron. This is what worked for us, and we had a big issue. Hope this helps the next guy.

If you're looking for a whole house filter, this is it ! Installation isn't easy but it isn't terribly difficult either. Total time for me was about 7 hours (including one extra trip to the hardware store) but could have been a lot less. First the bad news... I had two leaks ( a fitting and the o-ring seal). However, both of these turned out to be operator error and were easily taken care of. Also, the bracket comes with screws to mount onto the filter housing, but not to mount the bracket to a wall so be aware of this. Second the good news... I love this filter system. It wasn't terribly difficult to install. As you can see, I included a by-pass so that I can change the filters without shutting off water to the house. This housing unit is compatible with any filter that is 10x4.5" so you can easily choose the filter that suites your particular application. I would recommend getting a spare filter, so that you already have one when it's time to change. As for changing the filter, there is no indicator (I actually like this because no batteries or electricity is required). To know when to change, check your last year's water bill and estimate time based on water usage and filter capacity. In short, if you need or want a whole house water filter, this is a great buy for the money ! Highly recommended !

It took me about ten minutes to regret purchasing this piece of junk. As other reviews note, the pressure relief valve leaks no matter what -- and the manufacturer obviously knows it is a problem, because they send a replacement relief valve kit with it! I spent more on fittings than I spent on this canister, and wasted considerable time doing the install, only to find that this thing is incapable of containing water. I highly recommend that you buy something else. I'll be tearing this down, returning it, and searching for another product -- probably locally, since this kind of low quality bad experience is becoming par for the course for things purchased through Amazon. EDIT: I am updating this review due to the continuous contact I have had from the seller since I submitted it. First, they offered to "address any issues or concerns," and to "work to resolve the issues." That was useless, as I had already processed the return and refund through Amazon. Plus, there is no way to address or resolve a water filter housing which is incapable of containing water. Second, the following day, they contacted me again and offered to replace the product by sending me a "backup." It was unclear whether this would be free or at my cost, but in either case, I was not interested and did not respond. They offered to "meet my requirements" to "solve this issue with a wonderful ending," which I suppose means that I could have demanded something in return for editing or deleting my negative review. As noted, I did not respond. Third, a week later, I was again contacted, this time purportedly to discuss why I was returning the housing as an "unwanted item." The message from SimPure implied that I didn't want it because "it didn't meet my needs," to gather information to correct anything "inaccurate on the product detail page." I did not appreciate the implication that I returned the item because it did not meet my need. It was exactly what I needed -- or would have been, if it had the ability to contain water without leaking. I suppose if there is an inaccuracy on the product page, it is the statement that this plastic bucket will hold water and not leak. Although never stated (to avoid violating Amazon policy), it always seemed obvious that SimPure was fishing for a way to make me retract or at least tone down my negative review. Ultimately, all they accomplished was this edit -- my first ever in nearly 20 years of using Amazon -- to reflect an even more negative experience than originally experienced. In the end, I bought an AO Smith filter housing locally at the big box store, at a lower cost -- along with a couple of filter cartridges. That item installed easily and didn't leak a drop -- leaving me far more satisfied than SimPure's product and barrage of communications.

Meets my expectations

Seems to be a nice unit. Was simple to install. inclusion of some mounting screws would have been a nice touch. I installed it to filter bore water for my pool, so the install is a bit rough on my part but the unit seems to do the trick. Nice clean water coming through and no leaks from the housing. The ‘O’ ring is a little flimsy and could be more robust. Given the price it’s a pretty good unit. I am happy with it.

Very pleased with this filter. Easy installation and our water tastes great now. Please note that a lot of Teflon thread tape(included) is needed on the 3/4” x 1” MNPT adapters(sold separately) to avoid leaks. I would also strongly recommend O-Ring silicone grease for the rubber washer.

read the discription!!! i ordered this based on measurements but even though the top is the same the whole enclosure is way bigger than my original one also i thought is could step down the 1" to 3/4 NPT but i am told it would not work properly with my existing connecetion so i am forced to return it
