Viking 3-Ply Stainless Steel Fry Pan, 8 Inch

I bought this skillet and one smaller more than a year ago, along with a 2 qt. saucepan. I love the collection and highly recommend them. They are a good weight, balanced, have stay cool handles, and distribute heat evenly. I did not want non stick because I do not care for how it cooks. I am willing to scrub a bit for a good sear, but I found these clean up easily. The only drawback is there are no lids, not even to buy separately. All in all, very good value.

This is the best pan I have so far. It's the right size, my food is cooked fast, right and taste great.

I Love Viking products. And this skillet is no different. Over the years I’ve become very concerned about nonstick coating in my food and have changed to stainless steel which can be pretty expensive but I definitely recommend this pan. Switching to stainless steel is a learning curve so be prepared purchase these when they’re on sale it’s a much easier way to change your cooking Products. Easy to clean and as long as you dry them right after you wash them the polish stainless steel looks beautiful several months after purchase.

I brought this frying pan thinking it would be easier to clean. Only used a few times and find it very hard to clean and that I had to scrub very hard withBrillo pads and still didn’t come clean. I have a 8” one have no problem with cleaning and that was the reason I bought this one. Don’t buy it, you’ll regret it not worth the money and Energy!!

First off, the pan was described as an 18/0 alloy of stainless steel (which would probably be a bad idea) while the details on the product listing said it was 18/10 stainless. I thought I'd trust that Viking was smart enough to choose a good alloy and luckily it turned out to be what I wanted which was 18/8 stainless.Secondly, this pan is not the Viking Stainless Professional series so it is absolutely made in China. I did research and traced the model number to figure that out. That's disappointing because there are numerous cases of Chinese steel suppliers delivering less expensive alloy alternatives so the extra money spent on this versus other options may not be warranted.That being said, the pan is asthetically and functional very pleasing. I washed and gently seasoned the pan before the first use which I've never done for stainless but I will do from now on. Heat conduction on this pan is much better than an old 10" Kirkland (Costco). It heats up much more quickly than my identically sized Zwilling ceramic. Heat up pan with med or med low heat (conduction is so good I need less heat than with other pans) then add fat (oil or butter) then food. I've done eggs over easy, scrambled, and omelettes all without issues sticking. No discoloration of pan inside or out and I'm using gas burners.Great pan, recommended buy. But I can't yet tell if the extra $20 for the Viking name is justified. I'm tempted to try a cheaper option before I replace the rest of my pans.I'm never going back to non-stick coatings including ceramic. I believe this pan will last a lifetime without risks of chipping complex chemicals into my food.

The media could not be loaded. My husband and I painstakingly researched stainless steel pans for weeks, attempting to provide the healthiest cooking surface for our family. We finally settled on the Viking even though it has a hefty price.Our decision was based on the fact that this pan is made of surgical grade stainless steel which #1 means it won’t warp or release metals into our food and #2 it is by rights a non-stick surface.Keep in mind we are veterans of cooking on stainless pans and know not to ever cook above medium heat. Our stove goes 1-10 and we never ever go past 4. We apply the pan with some oil before cooking as the instructions suggest.Overall, it’s been OK. Not wowed by it at all considering the price we paid! We read such glowing reviews about this brand too.But the biggest downer is that it wasn’t even FLAT when it arrived! It bounces up and down and makes that loud “this pan isn’t flat” noise every knows. As a consequence, it only cooks on one spot unless I prop up the handle with something.I am definitely looking into returning this pan for a full refund. I will be going with a Homi-Chef 18-0 pan instead which has NO nickel in its composition.Kind of a real bummer considering all these points.UPDATE 9-25-19Despite using the pan on stove heat setting 4 of 10, it has continued to warp to point where it’s just completely not even touching the stove. I added a photo and video to demonstrate this.What a crazy amount of money for a pan that doesn’t meet expectations AT ALL.
