Excellent. Does the job perfectly well, easy to use. It is SLOW to scan in films, but as this scans frame by frame at about 4 frames a second, this is to be expected. Rewind is a bit of a faff, having to swap reels over and rewind speed is slow. Somewhat fiddly to thread the film through too, but not too difficult once you get the hang of it. Overall, this is a great bit of kit, exceptional value and does the job well. No problems at all with scanning quality. Recommended, and does a better job than most commercial scanning companies that do not scan frame-by-frame.

I have 8mm film from the 1930s onwards. Mostly standard 8, some super 8. All different size reels, subjects, b&w, colour, all over the place. The Kodak Reels is very easy to use. Make sure the film is under the film guides or the focus will be off. The digitising process is easy, just load an SD card and press record. I adjusted the sharpening to zero, which gave the best results. It takes ages and you do need to keep an eye on it in case there’s a rough spot in the film and it jams, that won’t do any damage, but it doesn’t auto stop, so you end up with lots of bad bits to edit out. You can adjust the framing if necessary. Rewind process is slightly annoying as you have to swap reels because it only drives in one direction. But if they added another motor, the price would be higher. Despite its annoyances, it’s a decent piece of engineering. I looked at building one, 3d printing etc, but this was so much easier. Result is good, for best quality take it into Davinci Resolve and de noise, sharpen, colour adjust etc. from what I could tell from YouTube videos with samples, the Kodak is the best in class. Expensive in Aus at $1050 when rrp is $399usd so watch for it on special. Mine came from UK so the plug pack didn’t have AUS mains plug, but I had several 12v ones that fitted. My finished results looked better than the DvD conversions my Dad paid for. I would recommend this product. Avoid the clones and imitations, Kodak made the film, their digitiser is good.

Non ho ancora avuto modo di utilizzare questo apparecchio poichè sono in attesa della scheda SD necessaria al suo funzionamento che, purtroppo, non viene fornita insieme al digitalizzatore . Dalle recensioni e dai video relativi al prodotto credo che questo apparecchio sia all'altezza delle aspettative per chi, come me, ne farà un uso amatoriale per recuperare vecchi ricordi in 8mm e super8 . Come oggetto niente male, è compatto e ha un bel design. . Una nota negativa: il manuale non è in italiano, ma solo in inglese e in spagnolo. Bisogna purtroppo notare che la lingua italiana non è tenuta in considerazione dal produttore....anche se l'inglese oggi è alla portata di tutti e, per chi ha un minimo di dimestichezza con questo genere di apparecchiature, l'uso è semplice e intuitivo. L'oggetto mi è arrivato molte velocemente e prima del previsto, nuovo e perfettamente imballato.
