MAGNESIUM IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MINERALS IN THE BODIES FUNCTION
i found out how important and what bodily functions magnesium chloride has....FROM ALTO HEALTH WEB SITE: Research has shown that it necessary for most of life's functions and supplementation has profound effects on the human system. French nuclear scientist Dr. Louis Kervran found that magnesium is transmuted by atomic energy inside the body into organic calcium. As a result of his outstanding nutritional discovery, award-winning nutritionist Richard Barmakian visited and studied privately with Dr. Kervran in Paris, in the early 1960's.

Stopped Chronic Muscle Twitching/Fasciculations/Body Tingling
I was suffering from chronic, whole-body muscle fasciculations that at first I thought were signs of some chronic autoimmune disease. I simply started having twitching all over my body one day, in my arms, legs, face, back, stomach, shoulders, everywhere! I also had tingling throughout my body and felt like my muscles were always ready to twitch at a moment's notice. I diagnosed myself with benign fasciculation syndrome, thinking that antibodies were attacking my voltage-gated potassium channels. Surely this would last the rest of my life.I would take magnesium oxide which would help somewhat but never seemed to stop the problem entirely. If I didn't take it I would begin having such severe twitching that I couldn't even sleep. My temporalis, or chewing muscles on the side of my head, which I never even realized I had, would twitch so violently that I couldn't even sleep sometimes. It was awful.I looked up the different forms of magnesium and decided to go with magnesium chloride because it was one of the best absorbed forms and also gave me the largest amount of elemental magnesium per mg. Doctors often prescribe this form for magnesium deficiency. After the first tablet my symptoms were greatly reduced, and now my twitching is 90% gone or more. It has only been a few weeks and I feel I have already put this problem behind me.I am only taking 1 tablet per day along with a multivitamin which contains some magnesium but clearly not enough by itself. Highly recommended for muscle twitching problems that won't go away. You really don't need much of this stuff. So happy I found this supplement. Thanks!

Good stuff. For those freaking out about the pills ...
Good stuff. For those freaking out about the pills disintegrating in their pill caddys—- these are hygroscopic / they absorb moisture from the air (stated on bottle too). Therefore, you need to keep them in the original packaging and don’t leave the bottle open. Also, these are a salt... so they’re going to taste salty.

Magnesium Supplement for Transplant patients.
I am a liver transplant recipient . Along with many other side effects of immunosuppressant medication,s loss of magnesium is one of the worst. My magnesium blood serums were at the bottom of the "normal" range. I suffered from severe leg and foot cramps during the night and often have to get up and stretch to stop the cramps. I was also suffering from short term memory problem to the point I saw a neurologist to make sure I was not developing alzheimer's. Low magnesium wa the cause of both problems. I tried the OTC stuff you get at the super market and pharmacy but it is Magnesium oxide and you had to take large doses for it to have any effect. 800mg a day will give you constant loose stool and emergency trips to the toilet. I have been taking this Magnesium Chloride for 2 weeks and my muscle cramps have all but left and my memory is improving every day. I will check my blood in the next week and report if my magnesium is back in the mid to upper range.UPDATE: My blood serum Magnesium levels are still at the lower end but I feel better, fewer leg cramps and short term memory is better. . Here is something I am suspecting but cant state for sure. I have weighed 173 pounds every morning for the last 9 months. Since I started taking this september 10, my weight has creeped up to 178 and I cant attribute it to anything else in my diet. Since magnesium is a salt my guess is that I am retaining more water than before. Anyone else? chime in.

Mag Chloride is a great way to supplement magnesium.
This form of magnesium is the best for me. It is fully ionized upon ingestion, aiding in absorption. I have tried many many magnesium supplements, including chelated forms, but could never supplement with as much elemental magnesium as recommended without getting diarrhea. Diarrhea means that the magnesium hasn't left the gut = NOT ABSORBED. Finally, I can supplement to the recommended daily amount for people who are magnesium deficient (55 years of a typical American high carb diet) WITHOUT diarrhea. What this means is the magnesium in this supplement is actually absorbed - not remaining in the gut to cause diarrhea. I can take up to 10 tablets daily of the Alta Mag chloride (5 tabs in am and pm, more does cause diarrhea) so I am getting about 600mg elemental magnesium daily, the amount recommended for those who have a long-standing deficiency. It will take months (or longer) to replete my magnesium stores, then I will back off. In the meantime, I have made major changes to diet (low carb, lots of greens, nuts) so being deficient will not be a huge problem going forward. My understanding is that once mag is restored, the magnesium from any supplement will be less well absorbed and I will experience the diarrhea that comes from unabsorbed magnesium. I will then have to lower the dose to avoid that side effect. Meanwhile heart palpitations and night time leg cramps are decreasing dramatically - no palpitations at all now, and far fewer cramps. Simple solutions are best.
