Horrible Histories Savage Collection 8 Books Set By Terry Deary

This series is very well researched and presented. It's a bit gory, but not over the top. My mid-elementary aged kids appreciate it, but some squeamish readers might be upset. It's enjoyable for adults, too! The chapters are short, easily digestible, and are accompanied by humorous illustrations so it might be a perfect series to convince a reluctant reader to give it a try!

Was having a hard time finding these all 2nd hand in the US, happy to find this set with the "core" titles, son loves it, brought one in to school for show and tell Book day.

My 9 year old is obsessed. We watch the show a lot and they have these books at his school. He was so happy to get the set as a Christmas present so he can read them any time.

I was excited about these for my homeschooler but she hasn’t responded to them. I think the tone is a little too snarky and the humor honestly a little too British for her American sensibilities.

These books were a birthday present for my granddaughter . She loves this series. The set of eight she received was opened and one volume clearly had water damage. I believe we were given a set returned by a previous customer, not a new set. Granddaughter is happy, I am less so but it’s not worth the trouble to try and return them. We live in different states. Not the experience I expect as a Prime member.

This set is a brilliant introduction to history for kids. The writing is funny, fast paced, and full of the strange and gruesome details that keep young readers interested. Each book covers its topic well without feeling like a school lesson, and the illustrations help bring everything to life. The quality of the books themselves is good, with clear print and sturdy covers that should hold up to repeated reading. The set offers a great mix of eras and topics, so it feels varied and keeps kids curious. If you want something educational that children genuinely enjoy, this collection is an excellent choice and great value for the number of books included.

They arrived on time and well packaged. One small drawback they arrived with a flimsy sleeve. It's a shame because they are great books. They only way the sleeve/outer cover remain in tact is if I put an elastic band around the books. Problem solved. The books are a great read and a very cleaver way to invite or introduce history through funny/humerus books. All the historical facts are correct; the author is a genius the way he gets into the child's ɓadults mind through humor amusement and illustrations. Many people feel history is boring subject made to be fun and it comes to life. It's as if you yourself are involved and waking through the pages of history. The text is easy to understand the author has used knowledge, facts, information to get his message across to the reader and the wider audience. Parents/teachers could read these books along side the conventional way of teaching history. The series of bòoks cover a wider range of subjects. They are a great read for school children and their patents too. I purchased these for my granddaughter as she finds history boring
