Nesco BJS-6, Jerky Spice Works, Sweet Hardwood Flavor, 3 -Count (Packaging May Vary)

This is my go to spice for making ground beef or turkey jerky--i've been using it for close to 30 years. It has everything you need and does a great job with great flavor. The only flavor I've tried that I don't like is the "hot and spicy". It is too hot for me and does not have an agreeable flavor I like. You can adjust your own heat for the other flavors by just adding a little cayenne or crushed chili flakes to the mix. All the rest are great Including the one I am reviewing. Since the spice and cure are quite salty, I would recommend using a little less of each than the recipe calls for. If you want to use full spice, cut down a little on the cure which is close to pure salt. I have found that cutting down on the cure does not decrease the shelf life to a noticeable degree – plus, this makes your jerky so good, it will not last long anyway.

Sweet with a bit of smoke. Not too salty (for a jerky). Not a lot of spices, so the flavour of the meat comes through really nice. I tried this with 90% fat free ground beef but will also try it with deer and elk. I would guess that this would be the perfect jerky season for deer or elk. Hmm ...Buffalo!? This seasoning is now one of my regulars (along with Original and Pepperoni (don't know why I can't find the Nesco pepperoni jerky seasoning on Amazon!!))

This is ONE box of stuff. Not 6count. It says 6 on the box, means to make 6lbs. Make sure read the fine print.
