In the last six months, I’ve spent over a hundred dollars on two different electric razors, hoping for a close shave. Both had 4 star plus ratings, and both times I was disappointed. I recently spent several hours researching the various options and brands on Amazon, four stars and better. There were only a few with five- star ratings, and most of those had reviews in the teens. AW had 214 reviews, with only three or four negative reviews (3 stars or less). After trying the razor, I can only assume the negative reviews came from competitors trying to drive down the ratings of this razor.I got my AW Razor yesterday around 2 in the afternoon. I hadn’t shaved for three days, so I had a reasonable stubble ready for a test. Without any pre-shave prep, I took the razor straight from the box, turned it on and made the first pass down my cheek. I could not believe the noticeable difference, after just that one pass. I continued shaving and continued being impressed. The resulting shave was so close, that my wife could even feel the difference compared to my previous razors.Later that same afternoon around 6 pm we went to dinner, and spent the evening with friends, returning home about 10 o’clock. I ran my hand over my face and could barely feel the beginning of a stubble about 8 hours after the initial shave.Additionally, I have an issue that has been a problem for me when using an electric razor. My neck is fused, and I can’t look up to stretch my neck for shaving. This makes it difficult to reach the area under my chin on my neck, with an electric razor, and results in a poor job of shaving. Although it is still a challenge with the AW razor, the razor is effective in shaving that area. I am pleased.Positive…An amazingly close shave with an electric razor. The razor is reasonably quiet. I think it has a rich elegant appearance, making it look more expensive than it really is. I’ve read comments that say it is heavy…yes, it is heavier than most comparable razors, but to me it was not an issue. The razor was comfortable to use.Negative…If I had to say there was a negative, it would be that there is no trimmer. Because of all the good things about this razor, I could care less if it has a trimmer or not. I’ll make do without a trimmer.Would I recommend this razor to someone else…absolutely, without hesitation. If I were going to buy a razor for someone as a gift, this would be the one. I bought this after my barber used his AW Foil to "freshen up" my morning shave of three hours earlier. It shaved me so close I bought my own and used it for six months before it died on me. I shave during my morning shower using a Harry's blade and foaming gel, then finish off with the AW and was getting the closest shave I've ever had. I contacted customer service at AW and they gave me a set of re-set instructions, which unfortunately did not work. Then, without asking for the old razor to be returned and verified as unusable, they sent me a brand new one and it arrived within 5 days of my e-mail exchange with Customer Service. You gotta love a company that stands behind their product.Now here's the update. The replacement razor was basically a brick. It malfunctioned from the get-go and I would sometimes walk into the bathroom to find it had turned itself on. But when I switched it off, do you think I could re-start it? Nope. So, I reached out to AW again and once again dealt with the very helpful Jessica in customer service. Once again, they sent me a replacement shaver and I have had no problems with it at all. I began using it on May 23, 2024 and it is still on it's original charge 3 1/2 weeks later. The fully charged battery gives you 3 indicator lights and this one is still on number two. Based on the first razor, I probably have about 3 weeks left before a re-charge is necessary. As I said in my first review, I use the razor in the shower and it works just fine. AW says it works better on dry skin, but I have found that in my case, wetter is better. I'm hoping this razor will survive and that the first two were anomalies. Despite that, AW clearly stands behind their product and offer great customer service. Hooray for Jessica.

I have some sensitive skin issues that makes it necessary to shave with an electric shaver since blade razors irritate my skin. My old electric foil shaver was always pretty decent but I could no longer find OEM blades and foils and the after market replacements were getting worse in quality. I saw the AW, read the surprising number of good reviews so, I ordered one. It was packaged beautifully. The gold finish is not really my style but I didn't by it for it's looks. This thing is built like a tank. It's made of metal and it packs the weight to prove it. I was quite impressed with my first use which was just a touchup, but what really blew me away was my first complete shave. I swear to you it was as close as any blade would give me. Granted, I have to make several passes to achieve that. An initial pass will do just fine if I don't want to shave too close, in other words, if I don't mind feeling the slightest bit of stubble, but it's great that I can get a super close, smooth result when I want it. You won't find any bells and whistles on this shaver, no sideburn trimmer, no led light to guide you as you shave but that is certainly no dealbreaker for me. If I can continue to get OEM replacement blades and foils for this, I predict that I'll love it for years to come.
