The perfect essentials kit for your car or pack
This kit is small and compact. It contains most of your survival essentials and fits them neatly into one space. While I originally purchased this for my hiking pack, I plan to purchase a few more for the vehicles as part of my winter emergency kit.

A neat gift for a young person just starting out in survival/prepping
Reality check here: this is not a serious survival kit. But it's an interesting design exercise and a well executed commercial intepretation of the Altoids tin DIY survival kits that are all the rage on Youtube, TikTok and Instagram. Not surprising because the Votagoo is a rather shameless copy of the S.O.L. Origin survival kit. Long out of production, the remaining stock of the S.O.L. original has skyrocketed in price. The Votagoo knockoff, at a third the cost, retains most of the key features of the original and is a relative bargain. With the exception of the fish hooks (more on that later), everything in this kit is, strictly speaking, functional. The compass points towards magnetic north. The 1 3/4" knife blade is sharp out of the box and deploys, locks and retracts smoothly. The whistle is nice and loud. And I was actually able to light up a cotton ball with the spark wheel firestarter.Oddly, the batteries installed in the knife handle to power the LED flashlight are dead. But one of the first things you notice upon opening the box are a couple of fresh button cell batteries in a little zip lock bag and a tiny phillips head screwdriver. Nothing in the instructions explains this, but the installed batteries are indeed dead, and once you install the provided replacements the flashlight function works fine. It's not exactly a powerhouse, but produces a useful amount of light in dark conditions.I mentioned the fish hooks. Bizarrely, they don't have actual eyelets - they're just flattened into solid disks where you'd normally find eyelets to tie them to the provided fishing line. If you fish, you'll surely have replacements to substitute. It would otherwise be a nasty surprise if you found yourself in a desperate situation and suddenly had to fish for sustenance. As I said, not a serious survival kit. But certainly better than nothing. More importantly, it's an interesting and very nicely packaged/presented gadget. It would make a unique gift to a child, scout, neice/nephew, or grandchild who has shown some interest in outdoor survival skills.

This is one of the most complete, extremely light weight, survival kit on the market
This survival kit is one of the most complete survival kits I've found. It has everything from a compass to a very nice little knife, a fishing line to a first aide kit. It extremely light weight, and perfect for the adventurer. I highly recommend this significantly complete survival kit.

Back up gear only
Not bad for the price, great to throw in the trunk or glove compartment. Not very useful for city dwellers, geared more for the backpacker/hiker. And this is not primary survival gear, better than nothing but not to be solely relied on. Must be old new stock because everyone says batteries dead in light. Mine were to. But came with two new batteries and even the screwdriver to change them. Funny that it says first aid but only comes with 2 band aids, LOL. But you can always modify somewhat to what you like.

Great gift for anyone who is a hiker, camper and hunter/fisher!
Great little gift! It is very compact, I was pleasantly surprised on how much actually fits in this little case! Wow! I was pretty stunned! Comes complete with everything you need to survive in the wild! Waterproof matches, very small med kit, tools, saw cable, rubber bands and more! Just put some paracord with it and you’re set! The case is pretty small and will fit in any backpack, tackle box, cargo pocket …. The case is very durable with thickness and the closure clamps shut and lock pretty well!
