Great player for the price
Great little player, surprisingly good sound quality as well, plays tapes well and has a great built in radio, pretty bulky but that's to be expected for an item bought for only a couple bucks more than an album on tape. Would recommend

Good audio but my units might be defective
It’s a really good product for the price. The audio quality of the radio and of the cassette playback was levels above what I thought it would be for the price. My only issue is that it can’t record any audio my my cassettes. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not using a specific type of tape but it just doesn’t work with my Sony HF-90s.But on the bright side the playback is amazing for the price.TLDR: audio quality is amazing but the recorder seemingly doesn’t work.

Perfect replacement!
It worked right out of the box! The radio and tape function both work great. The audio quality when recording is perfect for quick memos. The build quality does not feel "cheap" or like it will easily break.

Poor!
First, this thing is defective by poor design the first problem I encountered was the battery compartment. The metal tabs that have the spring mounted on, just bends backwards and it will not hold the battery in place, I had to take it apart and rig something to stop the flimsy battery tabs from bending. With that semi fixed at least it would stay on .The radio actually sounds pretty good but the tape player sounds terrible (tinny and weak) the speed is really bad but after playing a few minutes it improves slightly not to mention the buzzing that you hear. The built in speaker sounds awful. Also it plays tapes in mono.I didn’t try to record on it, maybe laterIf you are new to cassettes This player just barely works and believe me your cassettes sound much better than what you will get with this player. I thought I would use this when I go walking, I really don’t want to take a chance on dropping my Sony which sounds amazing!Update! I tried to record and the mic does not pic up any voice but it does record a loud buzz really good!

Hard to find portable cassette players with belt clips these days.
Have owned this unit for one month. Use it daily during my half-hour walks to listen to cassette audiobooks. Much better than expected! Sounds about the same as my old RCA and SONY portable units. This one is a bit thicker than the RCA and SONY units because of the built-in speaker but that is not a problem. And, most importantly, it has a belt clip! For the low cost (less than $20) it is definitely a good buy.EDIT: July 2025. Reduced the star rating from 5 to 3 because the motor no longer turns at the proper speed to listen to audiobooks. VERY slow and uneven. Have tried new batteries and tapehead cleaning (which I have done successfully for DECADES). Nothing works. Tape player is useless now; radio function still works OK.
