I know everyone is on this ceremonial cacao trip, I thought I could save money and order some raw cacao powder and add some fat to it, but boy was I wrong. The chalkiness was still there. Decided to try this one and it actually is a great price! And the TASTE. OK, I haven’t reviewed anything in a while because it takes time. But I thought immediately, “I need to come back and let you guys know not to miss out on this.” I don’t know what the other reviewer was saying about it not being able to dissolve in hot water, because I put three wafers( they are a circular shape, They don’t match the picture, but I actually like the shape better) I put three wafers in almost boiling water, stirred it up with my fork until they melted, and then I used a frother, added some cold water to it to make it not so hot before I added my every daydose of mushroom coffee, and let me tell you this is the best morning drink I’ve had in a very long time!! The cacao taste is superb. I even ate one when it arrived. There’s no sodium in it but it was salty! You can really taste the deep flavor and the minerals in this cacao. I hope this review helps you decide.

I LOVE this product....it's EXACTLY what I was looking for, minimally processed and TRUE cacao. For people who are new to TRUE cacao, just be aware that if you're accustomed to "American-style" Hot chocolate....and/or "Processed with Alkali" Hot Chocolate with tons of sugar....and you're expecting this to taste exactly like that, you're going to be disappointed.....as you can see from a few reviews bashing the taste of this product. There is NOTHING wrong with this product...it tastes EXACTLY the way TRUE cacao tastes....so if your taste buds are looking for a replica of "American style" Hot chocolate, which has had all the life processed out of it....then this product is probably NOT for you, and I'd recommend looking elsewhere. On the otherhand, if you're looking for a TRUE cacao, which has been minimally processed and healthier and MOST IMPORTANTLY, tastes INCREDIBLE, then this is the product for you. This Cacao is more akin to the type of Hot Chocolate that you find in the Caribbean and Mexico....so it tastes different from the American style Hot chocolate....but in my opinion, it tastes SOOOO much better, and is in fact, SOOOO much healthier for you too. I've been using cacao paste....to make Keto Hot chocolate for over a year....Simple recipe...lots of heavy cream and water, cacao paste and ceylon cinnamon....just heat on the stove, stirring until the cacao melts and incorporates into the liquid...or, if you're lazy like me, put everything in a huge mug and put in the microwave...(just watch it so it doesn't boil over)...and VOILA....a DELICIOUS hot drink, that's actually good for you too. I HIGHLY recommend this product.

Good quality cacao for a good price

Not super tasty. I eat a ton of unsweetened chocolate chips and chunks and this doesn’t have much flavor…

I was reluctant to try this based on some of the reviews, but the price was right to go ahead and give it a try. This has exceeded my expectations beyond anything I could have imagined. The bag arrived sealed and packaged well, but after the safety seal was torn off, the bag would not zip closed for storage. No big deal. I just placed the bag inside another zip bag--problem solved. This was my first experience purchasing cacao paste, so I have nothing to compare it to and didn't know what to expect. As soon as I tore off the safety seal, the smell of this cacao came pouring out of the bag. Heavenly! A deep, rich cocoa scent with a hint of a fruity smell (similar to banana, maybe?). I specifically bought this for drinking, so I shaved an ounce (measured using a kitchen scale) into a large mug and then added some cayenne pepper, a pinch of salt, and boiling water straight from my kettle. I did not add any sweetener, nor did I find any was needed. If you appreciate dark chocolate, you probably would enjoy this without any sweetener added. This is SOOO much better than dark chocolate, though. I actually expected this might be quite bitter based on what I've read about cacao, and also based on my experience with the cocoa powder that is used in baking, but this was not bitter in that way at all. Some bitterness, yes but mild and pleasant, and mostly what comes through is the smoothness and richness of a drink that is better than any cocoa drink I've ever had.

I’ve ordered this cacao paste from TerraSoul many times in the past and have always been satisfied. However, the most recent bag I received was not the same product as advertised. Previously, the packaging clearly stated “Criollo Variety,” and the bag was filled with chunks of cacao paste, which I loved for its quality and ability to chop easily. This time, the bag said “fermented” instead, and instead of chunks, it contained processed cacao disks. Unfortunately, these disks arrived melted, with a white chalky appearance, and appeared compromised. This is mismatch of advertising vs. the product actually received is major disappointment. I hope this is a temporary issue or a mistake in packaging. Amazon does not allow returns/refunds on this product, so I’m out my money for a product unused. Until this issue is resolved, I’m hesitant to reorder.

I give it five stars without proof of my mistake. I've tried a couple of different ceremonial cacals now along with cocoa powders and the high flavanol powders, and this is right up there with the great sorry I'm on oils in every way except lab work I guess. I'm happy at The great price I needed it to be For as much as I'm drinking this in a week. (Whole disc is not going to melt during your espresso so you don't have to chop it up with big butcher knife or put it to a nut grinder first before using it in coffee or just hot water.)
