I have 5 small dogs, one of whom is diabetic, a very picky eater, and also has trouble digesting many common proteins.She does okay with fish, but I'm concerned about the environmental sustainability of most commercial fishing and fish farming. On the other hand, I also don't want to remove animal protein from their diets, since they thrive on it, so I decided to give bugs a go.For daily feeding, I mix this kibble with pureed fruits and/or veggies and a very small amount of msc-certified fish, and all my dogs race to plant their faces in their bowls.I was curious whether it was my additions that had them so excited, so I set up scavenger hunts for them using only this kibble as the hidden goodies, and they eagerly tracked down every last piece, which is something they have NEVER done for any kibble I've fed before (including several super high-protein and raw-coated kibbles).I was worried that they'd spurn this kibble after years of higher-fat, more strongly scented kinds, but they give bug chow 10 enthusiastic paws up!

I cycle through a shortlist of vegetarian formulas with my dog, but this one is the top of the list. She likes it the best, and it’s great for her digestion.

I got this food because my Staffy has common animal protein allergies. Giving it 4 stars because it addressed that problem for him, all of my dogs ate it we without hesitation (they really aren't picky, though), and the company has great customer service. HOWEVER, it gave both him and my beagle mix awful gas. Like, it smelled so bad that Shadow (beagle) farted next to my 4 year old nephew and the poor little guy started gagging involuntarily. I was feeding it to those two dogs for a few weeks before I got my new rescue, a 26 lb Min Pin mix, and what it did to him was crazier. His fur started to smell like cat pee a couple days after starting on this food. I bathed him, thinking he must have found some outside to roll in, but he started to smell again before he even had a chance to be outside alone. I read online that foods high in Omegas and/or turmeric can do that, so I switched their food back to a Kangaroo based food, and the smell (and gas from the other two) has gone away.It also made my Staffy and my Beagle mix gain weight, despite feeding on the low end of the suggested feeding amounts for their healthy weights. They're already losing weight on the Kangaroo food.

My dogs like this food. Pieces aren't too big so both dogs eat them and digest them just fine.

I have purchased this product two times in a row. I wanted to give my two Shih Tzu’s enough time to adjust to the food before leaving an honest review. First off, I like the idea of this food. Trying a different protein since my dogs seem to be allergic to everything. They love the taste. They get real excited to eat it. However, that’s where the good part stops. I don’t know if anyone else has had this issue, but both of them have had terrible loose stool for weeks now since eating this food. Both of them. So it is definitely the food. They are both super soft and super smelly. It has also given them both terrible gas as well. I noticed in my one dog, an increased stuffed nose as well. So clearly this food isn’t a good fit for either of them. Not sure why as I had high hopes. I will now have to wean them off of this one and try something else.

We searched for years for a kibble that would break our senior large breed dog out in hives. Non-gmo ended up being a large piece of that puzzle.This kibble in addition to homemade food has changed the quality of his life for the better.

It makes their poop smell so bad

I have been feeding my dogs (a 5.5 year old pittie and 12 year old terrier mix) this food for six months - they love it. Yay for plant based!
