As with all products sold on Amazon around 15% of the purchase price goes to an Amazon Fee whereas 10% of our company’s profits are donated to charity. At present these are charities focusing on the health of children in developing countries that may not be directly tied to our employees. All employees making Shakti Mats are paid fairly and above industry standards and we also run many other programs and initiatives to support our employees. I apologise, but I am unable to calculate the percentage of each sale that returns to wages in India as this would be an in-depth investigation in accountancy. Rest assured that we make a concerted effort to ensure that no body is exploited in the manufacture of our products.

Does this mat contain styrene?

Shakti takes great pride in the quality and construction of our Mats. The outer cover or the bit with the spikes is actually painted, stitched, and spiked by hand using certified organic cotton and non-toxic dyes. The spikes are ABS recyclable and non-toxic plastic (the same plastic used in Legos). The mat is then filled with an inner PU foam (typically used in bedding), making it a soft surface for you to use. When laid flat out, the Shakti Mat measures 74cm by 40cm and weighs about half a kilo.

Great question! :) The Shakti Mat can be hand-washed by removing the inner foam and gently washing the outer cover with warm water and a mild detergent. Please make sure to hang dry and keep your Shakti Mat out of washing machines and tumble dryers as this may damage both the Mat and the machine!

Do you offer free return shipping? A reviewer said he had to pay to ship to New Zealand, so hoping you can clarify.
