Uh oh. Board fell. (Lemon Wacky Hello)
Steven Levitan is a genius. I first became awarre of his writing and producing on "Frasier", particularly season two's Breaking The Ice. He created "Just Shoot Me" and it was magic. The ensemble acting is second to none, the writing is fantastic, and (perhaps inspired by "Frasier" and its black cards) the cover of the current issue of BLUSH magazine inserted between scenes with the camera focused on an article that's a pun or bit of irony for the scene ahead. The episodes are fresh, including one in season two that parallels "King Lear", another that is designed in the style of Annie Hall called "My Dinner With Woody", and countless legendary guests. The titles are wonderfully short and the only actor not classically trained is David Spade, who is so comfortable on camera that he keeps pace with everyone.Shout Factory is a gift to the preservation of TV, bring this as well as countless other hard to negotiate series. ("Newhart" took ten years to produce a second season; it was SHOUT who negotiated the rights). I own many many from the SHOUT collection. I give this five stars because of the quality of the episodes but I should mention the quality of disc manufacturing. For example, the last four episodes on disc two of season 5 will not play. Neither under "play all" or from the episodes menu. Not after lens cleaning, disc cleaning (first view) not after strong cursing, which usually works. It happend again in Season six in the middle of an episode guesting Dave Foley as a blind man. I have to wonder if this set was perhaps returned defective, "repaired" then re-sold. Still, most of the episodes work fine, so I shall not bother with it. But check all your discs right away. When this series was on I saw the first two seasons on Network and then my life got very busy and complicated and I missed the rest. In fact, I was surprised the series ran for seven seasons because I simply never caught it. Everything gets better with each season and we see the characters grow. (We actually meet Jack's wife Allie.) The series is cutting edge for network TV and well worth iif discs are defective I warned you here.

Surprisingly Heartfelt and Deep.
Really excited that this entire series is finally available on DVD. It was one of my favorite shows back in the 1990's and it really held up over time. Though it is undeniably a product of its era, the content basically holds up. The series revolves around the staff of Blush Magazine, a glossy women's magazine similar to Cosmo or Vogue. It is run by Jack Gallo (George Segal, in a charming and delightful performance), a wacky, slightly self-absorbed millionaire and owner of the magazine; his fashion editor Nina Van Horne (Wendie Mallick in an Emmy nominated performance), a vain, shallow, deeply insecure former model who is mentally stuck in her 1970's heyday as a supermodel. Elliot Demoura (Enrico Colantoni) is the staff photographer, and David Spade is Dennis Finch, Jack's executive assistant and the office smart-alec, he is rude, crude and slightly silly. Spade earned an Emmy nomination for his work. Also, the series features Laura San Giacomo as Maya Gallo, Jack's daughter who he has a rocky relationship with. Maya is a feminist and intellectual who detests everything Blush magazine stands for, and hopes to change it from within as she accepts a job as its articles editor. The series focuses on the relationships of these people and how they help each other grow and change. The series holds up remarkably well and features some moving performances, and is full of a surprising amount of depth. Though it can get wacky and silly at times, it also has a lot of heart.

Full series
I'd been binge-watching the series on one of the streaming channels, for free, then most of the seasons fell off the tier. This boxed set of all seven seasons was reasonably priced. The only complaints are minor and similar to what others have written, the hinges on the panels holding the disk (so far I've only been in the seasons 3-4 box) are broken, and the picture quality is not the greatest, but acceptable. I also plan to check for a window to buy the currently unavailable seasons on Prime.

Very Funny Series
I remember watching this show in the late 90's and wanted a it fir my own viewing. I forgot just how funny this show was. It had a very good cast and great writers. It was almost Zoolander made into a weekly series.

One of the best comedies EVER
I remember liking this a lot when it was new. Now, watching it again (on cable at first), I realize how much i LOVE it! So clever! The comedy is not always highbrow (but a fair amount is), but it certainly beats what passes for funny nowadays.
