Q: How do you "prime" the chalkboard?

Using a piece of chalk on it’s side, rub vertically and horizontally until the entire surface of the chalkboard is covered in chalk. Then take a DRY rag or paper towel and rub the chalk into the board in a circular motion. This will push the chalk layer into the porous surface. Wipe the board with a damp rag to remove any chalk dust and let dry.

Q: Can you use deco or posca markers on this and erase them?

Hello, once you have primed the chalkboard surface you can use regular chalk or liquid chalk markers on these boards. Paint pens like deco or posca markers will potentially not come off or stain your board. Before you purchase any of those markers, I would check the listing description to ensure that it works on standard chalkboards. From looking at both Deco and Posca marker listings it did not list chalkboards as a surface that they recommended. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
