GRG Mosin Nagant 17.5" Cleaning Rod M38, M44, M91/59, M91/38, T53, US Thread 8-32

I've ordered these cleaning rods from GRG thrice and thrice I've been please. I just put in on to look correct. - The end is not knurled which would be correct for Chinese, but not Russian. I have never had anyone point out that fact and I don't care that much. - I would never use a steel rod for cleaning my bore! Are you nuts!?!?!? These are great for looks, but use an aluminium rod to clean your bore, it's 2014!!! Are you still using the oil goup from your oil can to grease your bolt too??? - Many T53's being brought in have not had a cleaning rod for years. The cleaning rod nut is the stock is caked with crud and crusty cosmoline, cleaning the gunk from the nut will help getting the rod threaded. The rod is not the fault, but the dirty nuts. The stock tip has a tiny screw that uses the same threads as the cleaning rod nut. It can be used to; thread, unthread, wipe and repeat to clean the nut to make it easier to thread the rod. - This will not fit a M91 or 91/30. This is for the carbine length only. This cleaning rod fit perfect on my Chinese Type 53 Mosin Nagaint. Just what I needed to complete the looks of the gun.\ Would love to leave a video of my gun later on, got my gun from J & G suplus supplies, did a hand pick got a pretty nice gun, no complaints, love it. Didn't have an OG rod with my carbine, so I bought this one. Technically not accurate to mine given it's Polish, which were issued with the rod "in the white" but whatever. My M44/wz44 hadn't had a deep clean ever since the day it was first forged by a brontosaurus, so the cleaning rod nut was completely caked in hardened cosmoline. A good soak in mineral spirits later revealed some pristine threading. The cleaning rod screws in a good bit of the way, but not quite all the way through to the end of the nut's threading. It's still secure in the slot, but it's definitely not a perfect fit, at least on an M44/wz44. Might be different for older style Mosins.

I was one of many people to purchase a chinese type 53 carbine in which the cleaning rod was missing. My russian mosin nagant from 1942 came with the original cleaning rod and after looking at the type 53 next to it there is a SIGNIFICANT indent / bevel where the rod should be just wasn't going to work for me (Bevel wood was unfinished and not stained well either). I looked at the other amazon reviews for this item and decided that for $5 it was well worth it to make my type 53 look a whole lot better and get the authentic "issue condition" appearance. Fits PERFECTLY and I honestly cannot tell a difference when looking at this and my mosin's original cleaning rod side by side. BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!!!! *I purchased mine from GRG MFG

Perfect cleaning rod replacement and compares perfectly to original rod . A little short for m-39 finish nagant but good to go on shorter nagants.

• Wrong length. •Supposed to be 17½" but it's • 17” (which actually does make a difference) • Wrong threads. • Does not attach to M44 cleaning rod nut. • Does not thread into M44 cleaning kit attachments. • Wrong head. • Does not allow the handle to pass through the head. • The head is not properly drilled for an M44.

Listed as the correct length for an M44 at 17 1/2". Arrived with a length of 17". Also was packaged in a paper bag only, so of course it was bent. Spend the money and get a real surplus one if you want historical accuracy.

My local gun shops sell replacement rods for $15. After examining them for design and size I found these on Amazon for less then $3 each. Solid steel rod with a screw head on one end to attach securely into your rifle. Fit my type 53 perfect. Placed the order late in the evening on 1/25 and it was in my mailbox 4 days later. Ordered 2 the first time and wish now I had gotten more! Great product and seller, fast and track able shipping. Would recommend to anyone needing a replacement rod, cleaning rod or just a spare to complete your Mosin.
