An improved model of an already good tyre inflator
We used to have an earlier model of this machine until we lost it while on holiday. We liked it well enough to replace it with this RAC635 and have found with surprise a considerable improvement. There is a more powerful pump, so inflation is very quick. I used to find the controls on the RAC630 a little difficult to follow but in this model operation is straightforward and intuitive; you set the pressure, touch the on switch and off it goes, stopping automatically at just over the target to allow for a little loss of air during disconnection. Large numerals indicate the actual pressure (except that they show the target when you are setting it) but small figures above them always show the target pressure. You know where you are, which gives confidence. I think the manufacturers must have been paying attention to customer feedback; a good sign of careful design. We always preferred the screw-on connectors which the Ring has, finding them easier to use and less likely to break. Even with my less than nimble arthritic finger tips, I still have no difficulty handling them. Moving our tyre pressures up and down for a heavily loaded holiday trip was no trouble and almost a pleasure. I have no hesitation in recommending this well-built tyre inflator.

Pleased I bought it. Buy with your eyes open, but still recommended.
Disclaimer: I generally don't know what I'm doing. Honestly, I really don't. If you are in the same situation, hopefully this helps you and sets your mind at ease.Overall: If you have read other reviews, there are some flaws to the design. The screwing and unscrewing is prone to allowing some air to escape. Overall though? Its a very handy, useful addition to have in the car for that really rubbish moment. Buy it, try it, and leave it in the car for when you need it.Packaging and Postage: Standard Prime. So a robust box, delivered the next day and with the compressor packed safely inside.First Impressions: Good! Its well presented in a nice fabric tote bag/case. It doesn't look too complicated and is exactly as presented on Amazon. Only negative is that the instructions are picture only. Unless you look at it the other way, and that is that it's so easy to use - pictures can detail the process.Design: This is one of the major sticking points of many of the reviews here. The screw on/off of the valve means that at a point, there is air escaping. I would suggest that if you are *that* worried, increase it by 0.5psi. Honestly, the amount of air that will escape whilst unscrewing it will be minimal. The design isn't *that* bad!Other than that, decent clear controls. The torch is brilliant especially since I've just used it in the dark. The cable is nice and long and also the cable management (ie how to store it!) is decent. Both the power cable, which stores at the back, and the air hose store easily enough. The photos are after I used it.Use: Plug it into the 12v socket. Screw onto wheel. Change the required PSI by twiddling the knob. Press the power button. Watch the pressure rise. It really is easy. I have to admit, I didn't let it auto shut off, so I'm not sure whether that will be detrimental - I was watching it and I didn't want to wait.Longevity: I can't answer this yet, but I will keep a close eye on it since so many have raised concerns. At the moment, yes - it isn't the highest quality brushed aluminium switches. It isn't a hard wearing robust sturdy compressor. But it is one of the cheapest. And it is perfect for leaving in the car for the odd time you need it.

Super design, worth the money
* IntroductionThis handy, compact 12-volt car tyre air inflator pump is super. It is easy to use. You use the cigar lighter to power it.* How to use this pumpI lost the instruction letter which came with it, so worked it out by trial and error. You plug it in the cigar lighter port. Press the top yellow power button to operate it and turn it on. When you see the panel lit up, select your p.s.i. or bar, by pressing the small yellow button that's below the screen to select between the bar or p.s.i. To set your cutoff pressure where you want it to stop inflating, by rotating the same small yellow button slowly. Connect and screw the valve connection to the car valve. Press the power button twice and you're inflating the tyre. The clear blue display shows how quickly you're reaching the desired pressure in the tyre. When it reaches this pressure, it stops automatically. The device has control lighting in white and red light too.If you have difficulty with getting this to work, just remove and reinstall the power connector into the cigar lighter a port a few times. Another fix to this not operating, then move the cable around when it's connected. It does work.* SummaryThis compact tyre inflator is well built and designed. it's well worth the money!
