Q: my steam iron is only 6 months out and has stopped producing steam at all any ideas?

No idea at all. Mine also stopped producing steam and the refill water light is permanently on even though it has water.

It should automatically descale. For me this took place next time i put the iron on. As the otherw say, check that there is enough water and then switch the iron back on. If the problem persists, contact morphy richards. I have also found that you need to empty the dirty water soon after too. I have only had my iron for three months and initially it was fine. Now i find if there is any water in the dirty water section, this leaks out which is not very good at all.

Yes it can, you just don't press either of the two steam buttons, then it's just an iron

Q: Hi, can anyone tell me if this self-cleaning function means that there is no opening in the bottom of the boiler to rinse/descale it?

As the iron des ales itself the dirty water goes in a separate part of the water chamber that can easily be emptied it's a really good function as you can switch it on and leave it to do it when you return in 5 minutes it's all done empty chamber and job is done ready for ironing again.
