Far superior to non Microsoft keyboards
Far superior to non Microsoft keyboards, although I hate to say it because I do not like Microsoft. I bought this with my surface pro 6 in 2018. It stopped working in 2023 - w,e,r,t would not type.I bought a MoKo Type Cover Compatible for Microsoft Surface for £50 which arrived the same day. It is blue tooth which I did not want but there are no cheap keyboards that are pin connection (that I could find). It was OK but , you have to charge it for several hours first, chunky, not so responsive, capslock does not light up when in use, I couldn't find a £ sign.I decided reluctantly I would just have to shell out £140 for the Microsoft surface cover version. It has just arrived, what a relief.Plus points:Attach surface pro and keyboard immediately works; very responsive - don't have to thump the keys; types first touch; low height keys; background lit nicely. Is it worth £90 more probably not - but I have paid it because I need the functionality. Ido too much work on my laptop to have anything but the most efficient and ergonomic equipment. I'm keeping the £50 moko board because I was so disabled not having a functioning keyboard even for one day. On screen keyboard was absolutely not suitable. Soo I will have a spare so I'm not left in the lurch again in another 5 years time - if that is how long the Microsoft cover lasts .Re BATTERY life - to the best of my knowledge it doesn't have one but the amazon feedback form insists you rate it.

A fantastic typing experience
I'm writing the review using this keyboard.I was forced to buy this as I have accidentally knocked over my backup computer, a Surface Pro 3, damaging its Type Cover in the process.First of all, just the fact that this new keyboard is backwards compatible with the old Pro 3, which was released in 2014, is a great thing in itself, as it shows respect and commitment to the customers, not forcing them to buy the latest products every year.Just like all the other Type Covers released so far, the setup couldn't be simpler: you just attach it to the magnets on the bottom of your Surface and wait a few seconds for the drivers to install. That's it! No further actions required!Compared to the Cover released with the Surface Pro 3, the keys on this one are a bit more spaced out, giving you a less cramped position and more comfort. The tactile feedback that this keyboard gives you is great, and close to the experience I get with the keyboard of my Surface Book or the Surface Keyboard (the Bluetooth one), which in my opinion are the best. And even though the accessory is small in size, you have all the function buttons you need, plus a Del key, which is always appreciated (you might think that this should be taken for granted, but the new MacBook Air doesn't even have that, for example). Finally, the trackpad is larger and more precise than the one found in the Surface Pro 3 Cover. Once again, it is not quite as good as the one found on my Surface Book, but it is still of excellent quality considering its size.Overall, a fantastic accessory that I would consider essential for any Surface Pro owner. Yes, it is not cheap by any means, but the build quality of this is great and well worth the asking price. And all of this in just a few millimetres of thickness!

Good deal compared to the price of a new one
Keyboard looked perfect, was not in a proper box but apart from that appeared to be brand new but was apparently refurbished. Worth it for the price I thought

Good product
Looked somewhat used but in good condition.

Great keyboard, brand new one is pricey tho.
I bought one of those Bluetooth "compatible" keyboards...found it annoying, needed charging, sometimes lagged...so went for a refurbished "proper" Microsoft one...it's brilliant. A brand new one in my opinion a bit of a rip-off.

Not worth getting a 3rd party version
After having a very good separate keyboard for several years I decided to get a proper one that attaches where it's supposed to. I was looking at 3rd party versions at various quality and price points when I decided to look at genuine ones. The price difference was a no brainer. Very pleased. I've changed from a very good keyboard to an excellent one. And, much easier to set up & use....

Good value replacement
No idea why it asked me to review battery life, this is a standard keyboard for a MS Surface computer. It is the Microsoft Keyboard that connects via a strong magnet with a series of connectors at the bottom of the screen. It's no a Bluetooth one. However it works exactly as expected, connected to the surface in seconds, recognised and working properly.
