Pebeo 147-001 20 ml Setasilk Silk Painting Colourless Water Based Gutta Tube, Transparent

I used it to mask out some of the blue representing sea because I wanted to put down yellow to give the effect of the sun shining on the water. I am no expert but I was quite pleased with my result.

Great product, does the job, good value

Works well when applied thickly, you need a finer nib to stop it going blobby (available separately) when it is applied too thinly the colour leaks.

I usually use either salt technique or tie dye for my silk painting but it was not suitable for the garment in question. I was a little nervous about using Gutta for the first time but it was great & once you got the hang of it not that hard. I highly recommend it to anyone who thinks of trying it.The important thing I found was to prepare properly not start till you were ready to do it all & take your time.

Great product but have given it a 4 as you can't get a fine point on it as it relies on you cutting off the top of the tube. It would be great to have a version in a syringe style so you could squeeze the product out more easily and precisely. Having said that however, the product is functional and am please with the resistance it offers on silk.

While the other colours in this range can be used to get a line, if not as fine or as even as I would like, the colourless gutta flooded out despite a tiny hole.I've tried once and spoilt a design, having treated it in exactly the same way as the other colours. If you are going to use it, I suggest you get plenty of practice first, but I won't bother. Pity, as I would have liked this effect.

This was exactly as described and as expected, and arrived promptly and in good condition and packaging. I have only just taken up silk painting so I don't have a great deal of knowledge about different products, but I can say from my own limited experience that this was easy to use.

I bought this in gold, silver and clear, and whilst the gold ad silver have a nice thick consistency, this clear gutta is much more watery, leaving much thicker outlines than the others. It works perfectly containing the paint but is just a little too watery which is a shame.
