Hair styler
Great value for money, I had a pair for 5 years before upgrading again. I have thick hair that use to take ages to straight but not with these the grip they have glides through your hair and keeps it straight all day

Love them
Wife's review: I've waited a while to review as wanted to use them a good few times I have to say I love these straightners. They are fab for my very fine hair. You can get various temperature range, I use #2 on my hair and it straightens hair beautiful. I've also used them to curl my hair, I'm not sure if it's the floating plates but me hair never gets stuck and snags, the curls ate lovely and stays in. I have used GHD gor so long but really aware of how they fry my hair so wanted something that would do equally a good job but better care for my fine hair and I'm please to report these are perfect. Agree with others it woukd be a nice touch to get a heat mat with them but to be honest i had one anyway. I would highly recommend.

Great innovation, excellent performance
After reading so many reviews of women preferring these to their GHDs (and the avalanche of supposedly honest sponsored Vine and YouTube reviews...), I decided to offer this one to my partner, as her high-end BaByliss Pro straightener started malfunctioning. She is very happy with this new one: faster, more effective at creating curls, slicker, and more attractive aesthetically. The floating plates seem to do their job and uniformly squeeze the hair, something standard straighteners have more problems with due to their design. She is very satisfied with it. Now, my 2 cents : On the technical side, it doesn't heat any faster than the BaByliss Pro. The 15 seconds heat up time that Remington states is for the lowest temperature only (150-160 degrees). The LEDs blink for ~45 seconds when using a normal temperature (190-210 degrees). That is much slower than her previous BaByliss Pro. Also, the revolutionary "Cool touch technology" is really oversold... It's obvious the plastic won't be very hot near the plates, as long as you don't squeeze the iron, as there is no direct contact between these parts... However, as you squeeze it, the plastic does get hot, as hot as her previous one... Overall, it might be slightly colder, but it's not really noticeable when it's actually used and squeezed constantly. Anyway, it's a great product with a real innovation. Just a bit oversold; I can understand Remington though, all other straighteners have the same "old" design, and the last useful improvement in hair straighteners design must date back to the previous century... Update: After a week of using it daily, she found that the curls were not lasting as long as they used to with her previous BaByliss. We ended up returning it and ordered a BaByliss 3Q instead. It does make better tighter curls that last longer. That's probably due to its narrower rounded barrel design, compared to the quite bulky flatter design of the Remington. The BaByliss also has a few more interesting features, like a wider temperature selection, a protect mode and an ion diffuser; all that for a slightly lower price. Lowering the grade to 4* for these reasons.

AMAZING!
I've never owned GHDs which are supposed to be the best, but of course my hairdresser does use them on my hair. I'm in my 50s so have owned several pairs of straighteners over the years. These were on offer so I thought I'd give them a go and these are definitely the best I've owned so far! OK, I have fairly normal hair, not thick or frizzy but these go through my hair like a hot knife through butter and my hair stays much straighter for longer than it did with my last pair (which were supposed to be a Babyliss version of GHDs but were actually pretty rubbish & very cheap & nasty to hold.) They heat up quickly, & with my hair, one pass is enough. I would DEFINITELY recommend these, they are amazing. Remington does it again!

Better than my GHDs!
My GHDs suddenly stopped working after about 4 years so I bought these as a replacement. Better than my GHDs and such good value for money. I have long brown hair and was worried from other reviews that my hair may catch, this has not happened. First time I used them was after washing my hair (thick curls) and they straightened them almost instantly. With my GHDs I was going over my hair 2 or 3 times, with these it is once or twice if that. They also glide through my hair smoothly. Haven't tried curling with the straighteners but I have a good feeling they will be fantastic!

Good but not 'Great'
I have straightened my hair for many years, and used an array of different brands of straightners. I love remington and have been a loyal customer to their products. With my recent straightners dying on me (after 6 yrs of usage) i decided to try the Air Plates following such good reviews. I am a little disappointed by these straightners. Their visuals - no temperature on show - they have 5 different heat settings which is displayed in the format of dots (1 - 5 dots, 5 dots is the highest temperature) so it is not easy to tell what temperature you are actually using. Once heated up, these straightners do not beep. I know this is simple, but it is helpful to be able to hear a beep so you can be busy while waiting and then know when they are ready (I am yet to work out how to tell if they are fully heated up?!) Also, I read many reviews stating that these do not 'snag' however as the plates do not curl around the edge, I find that my hair is getting caught and therefore 'snagging' / causing breakage. Lastly, (i know these are STRAIGHTners) - however I often use my straightners to curl / wave my hair - due to the above reason (the plates not curling round the edge) these are not the easiest to use when trying to curl / wave - so if this is something you often use straightners for then I would not recommend getting these ones. Nonetheless, they are of course good quality in terms of material - they are lightweight and the plates are a nice width. They come with a super handy rubber sleeve that you can put the hot plates in to cool down. I will be keeping these but unfortunately only as a 'backup' I will be looking to buy the Remington straightners that I have been using for the last 6 years 'Remington Shine Therapy'

Converting
Being a long life lover of GHDs - a strong 10-11 years I have never used another brand. Unfortunately last week my hairs best friend broke and with money being on a strike I have had to resort to a cheaper more affordable brand. I came across these and read the reviews, mixed reaction but on a panic buy I bought them. They came and at first they look like the devil made them himself, I was petrified to use them. I bit the bullet and gave them a go. Oh my days. I’m shook. I never thought I would say this but im loving these and actually find them better than GHDs! They heat up within seconds, you have a choice of the temperature and even on the lowest setting it does a decent job. Now I have long thick hair and to make matters worse it’s frizzy. These straightens actually tame the beast with little to no effort. I’m won over and I don’t think I’ll be returning to my old ways. Saved money and got a better experience than GHD. Remington pulled it out the bag with this.

Very good ones
Ha these are reaaally good. I bought them in Nov17 and they just broke yesterday. So they lasted 3 years, using them litteraly every day. Not bad ! I just bought another cheap brand to replace these and I am realising the new ones are shit and these ones are the best, so will be buying them again. The best feature for me is the moving plates, which means your hair, no matter how thick the strand is (within reason) will be straightened perfectly.
