Are the cultures live?

Yes I make yogurt with these. Any comments about chucking them in milk and it not working are illinformed. You need to boil your milk first, use UHT or dried milk powder. You will not make yogurt with fresh milk and no heat no matter what you add to it. I add 1 capsule per 150ml of UHT whole milk and an electric yogurt maker, makes lovely mild tasting yogurt.

Is this a synbiotic ? i hear it is better to have pre and pro thx

Synbiotics are when live bacteria and prebiotics are mixed together in the same supplement. Bio-Kult Advanced Multi-Strain Formulation contains 14 strains of live bacteria. it does not contain a prebiotic. This is because Bio-Kult is formulated for those with very sensitive guts. Whilst prebiotic foods (which help to feed beneficial species of bacteria in the gut) can be a great addition to your diet, in those with dysbiosis (an imbalance of bacteria in the gut) they can often aggravate digestive symptoms when first introduced, causing bloating and discomfort. Once the gut flora is rebalanced prebiotic vegetables or a prebiotic supplement could be gradually introduced. Studies of live bacteria supplements, prebiotics and synbiotics all vary in their success. Research is indicating that adults may need 5-10g a day to have a therapeutic prebiotic effect (which would not be possible to fit into a capsule). Bio-Kult strains have been shown to be highly stable due to the addition of the protective coating so do not need a prebiotic to improve survivability through the gut.
