Works fine, when used for its intended use
Wanted one of these so I can use my old iMac (2011) as a second monitor with my new 2019 iMac. In conjunction with a proper thunderbolt 2 cable, this works perfectly. Yes it is expensive for what it appears to be, but it is packed full of electronics which thunderbolt requires to work. It is not meant for USB C connections, even though it will plug into one, and it is not meant for display port connections, even though its the same socket - it is for thunderbolt only. If you’re in the market for one of these, you should know what that means. As far as I know, there isn’t an alternative on the market for a true thunderbolt 2 to 3 converter other than this one. This does give apple a monopoly on this, but it isn’t a cheap thing to produce, and it will be a limited market. If you look into thunderbolt and what it entails, you’ll understand why. Most windows computers do not include any sort of thunderbolt, and even on the expensive ones, its simply USB C ports, which are not the same thing. This adapter cannot turn a USB C port into a thunderbolt one, as some of the bad reviews seem to be suggesting they used it for and it didn’t work.Used for the correct purposes, it works perfectly. I would buy another in a heartbeat if this one failed.

This Thunderbolt Adaptor works
Like one of the reviewers previously mentioned, buying a cheap (£5.12) similar cable from an auction site, based in Shanghai China, is a waste of your money and time, they don't work, at all - I fell for that one. This one DOES WORK, as it is an official Apple product. I plugged it into a Thunderbolt 4 port on my Mac, and hooked it up my hard drive with a Thunderbolt 2 cable, and within 5 seconds it appeared on my desktop. Yay! Plus it is half the price compared to the Apple's online store. A highly recommended product.Note: A fake adaptor has a shorter 'block' length (4.5cm) than the official product, which is 7cm long. The fake ones don't have the Thunderbolt icons on both ends of the adaptor.

Not cheap, but does stated job perfectly
You have little option but to pay Apple for this adapter if you want to make modern Thunderbolt kit functional on an old Mac with Thunderbolt 2 ports. It's also a good solution to let you continue to use old Thunderbolt 2 peripherals on more modern systems. Not cheap, but it is a quality adapter with a fair bit of technology built in.It works perfectly as specified.Note the connector types at each end - depending on your requirement you may also need a short Thunderbolt 2 cable to 'link' this adapter to an old Mac. This could significantly add to your cost to re-use old Thunderbolt 2 kit.

Reliable Adapter, But Pricey
This adapter worked perfectly for connecting my old Apple Cinema Screen to my new MacBook Pro with USB-C. While it did the job well, the price is a bit steep for what it is. Apple’s proprietary technology adds to the cost, but it would be more reasonable if it used standard HDMI. Overall, it gets the job done, but it’s definitely on the pricier side. If you need to do the same don’t waste your money on the cheaper ones out there though, they simply do not work.

Work perfectly
This item turned up quickly and worked perfectly. I needed to be able to connect a 2017 MacBook pro to an old Mac screen that has a thunderbolt output. I was very impressed with how well this works and as I did not want to get rid of the Mac screen it was the perfect solution. It is a solid adapter, not flimsy like some others I have used. I doesn't feel like it will easily break. I would recommend to anyone that needs to connect an old thunderbolt connection to a usb-c input. Very happy.

It works (Mac mini 2023 to 2015 Thunderbolt screen)
I bought this on the advice of an Apple expert on web chat for a new Mac mini 2023 as I wanted to keep my old 2015 Thunderbolt Display (2K). It works really well and I don't think I will bother going to a 4K screen now. So though it is a mite expensive for a short cable, it has saved me at least £400 in purchase of a BenQ screen and I like using something that still works.

Link in a chain to connect D8/DV Firewire to USB-C
I intended to complete a task of transferring all my D8/DV tapes from Sony/Canon cameras to a laptop (PC). I also purchased two additional adapters: A Thunderbolt 2 to Firewire 800 adapter and a Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 adapter. I connected an 8-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable from these adapters to the camera. With these four connections plus the cable in place, I used Pinnacle Studio 25 to successfully transfer the tapes from the camera to my laptop. The process worked wonderfully and eliminated the need for a tower/desktop with a Firewire PCI/PCIe card installed. Note the first two adapters have to be Apple parts (USB-C to Th.2 and Th.2 to Firewire). Highly recommend this setup.

Always stick to brand names
Had recently bought a so called original but it was from China. Waste of money. Didn’t work. This however was legit showing the packaging and offered a reasonable price for a demanding item seeing I need these connection. Highly recommended!! 😊
