Great for beginners!
An outstanding introduction to project management, this book fills a void left by all the other project management books that clutter the shelves. There are thousands of aspiring project managers out there, with little or no experience. Unlike most books on the topic, this book is a great place to start. The author opts to share wisdom and context where others would share only technical knowledge. There's an abundance of call-out boxes to highlight key messages, and super-simple graphics to help visualize more complex concepts. And the author doesn't skirt the more complex concepts, even earned value management. I wouldn't refer to this book as a companion to the PMBOK; however, the reader will be in much better shape to absorb the PMBOK and any of the companion guides after starting with this.If you're looking for a treatise on project management, or a preparatory book for one of PMI's certifications, continue your search. But if you're looking for an engaging way to learn the fundamentals, look no further. Oh, and don't overlook the price. A no-brainer!

Great guide to Project Management
This was a required text for an online course I'm taking. I was surprised at how useful this book is. The author describes principles so it's easy to understand and applies examples everywhere. When my class is over, I plan on rereading the text from cover to cover to get a better understanding of PM fundamentals.

Project Managment 101
This book covers everything you could want to know about Project Management. It starts off with the basics and then finishes off with tips and recommendations. In the middle it covers every aspect of a project in great detail. If you are already know that you like project management then this book is for you. Even for someone who loves this subject this book is a little dry. If you seek knowledge on project management I would highly recommend this as a first book.

A Little Short
The author my have gotten distracted. At one point he claimed there were five key elements to project management. That got my attention. He did a fairly good job of describing the first element but, in my opinion, went off in a tangent and failed to describe the other four elements. I feel sure he didn't intend this outcome. From his tone of writing, it seemed to me that he was pretty enthusiastic about the topic of project management.

Easy, interesting and enough to understand and apply PM
The book is very good for students and newcomers to Project Management. I teach project management at the level of graduate and post graduate and recommend it.Easy to read and understand, very good concepts, examples, analogies an figures. The missing part is that the book does not have a chapter or section explaining easier control techniques. It includes earned value, but it is not precisely a fundamental or for everyone technique.
