Clip to collar for young/lively dogs
The bad bit....Well I ordered a clip to collar, but received the head collar lead only. As I was desperate to try it I made it into a clip to collar myself using an 'O ' ring from an old harness and attaching another lead to that. I am so glad I took the time to do this. I followed the instructions exactly and looked at the online training on how to fit it correctly. My 8 month cocker spaniel managed to get the head collar off in seconds, and had it not been clipped also to his collar he would have been off. And yes, it was very snug, and the safety clip was close to his head. He does have very silky fur though, particularly around his face, which is like velvet, so I suppose very slippery and easy for him to get the head collar off. But the thought of a wriggly young dog wearing one of these without the security of the clip to collar on a busy street just makes me feel slightly sick. The GOOD bit....now he has got used to it and has stopped trying to get it off every 30 seconds, it is SUCH a pleasure to walk him. He only slightly pulls now , but a little gentle pressure on the headcollar lead brings him easily back to heel. His head is up, not pulled to one side, and his tail doesn't stop wagging. I would definately recommend, but please buy the clip to collar version.

Absolutely fantastic!
I recently rehomed a Labrador who is terrible for pulling on the lead. My 9 year old could never walk her because it was so bad. I bought this lead after someone recommended it to me and at first I struggled to get my dog to keep it on. After my dog submissed to the lead after we were out walking she was fantastic!! No more pulling! I wrap the lead around my hand so that she has to walk right next to me. I took her on the school run and my 9 year old happily walked her all the way home with no complaints of pulling. Certainly a wonderful product. I recommend you persevere with it as your dog won’t like it at first but as long as you keep the lead pulled to the one side instead of dangling next to them then they shouldn’t be able to bite into it.

Gencon head collar
I can't speak highly enough about this head collar. We have a pointer that is getting bigger and stronger by the day, to the extent that my wife is overwhelmed by him out on a walk. We've tried a harness (just develops big shoulder muscles) , a half choke collar (worked intermittently but he still pulled) and a Halti (right size but rides up into his eyes), so there was a degree of scepticism when our dog club trainer suggested one of these. How wrong were we ?! Took a day or two for him to get used to it (and a couple of goes to get the knack of putting it on) but he is now a joy to walk - hardly any pressure needed to exert control; in fact I thought he had slipped his collar and disappeared the lead was so loose the other day ! The clip to collar provides an extra level of security should the dog slip out of the head collar (with a long nose hound like a pointer that's not likely) or else you can clip it to itself to make a hand loop and create a slightly longer lead.Very pleased with this and wouldn't hesitate to recommend at least giving it a try

No more pulling!
I use this on my husky and she no longer pulls! Whenever she is on a regular lead with her harness it's hard to walk her as she is so strong! However when I use this lead she walks next to me and does not come close to yanking my arm out of the socket like a regular lead would! I've even trained her to walk by my side without jumping about thanks to this lead. I wont be walking her with any other lead as this one has allowed me to walk with my husky so well without feeling like I might get an injury!!

Best Headcollar I Have used
OK, so I had to youtube on how to put on as I could not make sense of what I took out of the packet. It was so easy once shown. two loops, slip one over the dogs head the other over the nose, a gentle adjustment to the nose band then the neck bank slipping the stop clip into place so it stays where it should. You have a choice of clipping the other end to the dogs collar or making a handle for the lead. Nose band stays where is should and does not ride up into the dogs eyes and it does not pull tight around dogs nose, great stuff. Would recommend as have tried other head collars but they irritate the dog.

Highly recommended for dogs that pull, and much better than Halti for big dogs.
We got this gencon lead to replace our halti head collar which our german shepherd / husky cross HATED.It made both our dog and us very distressed when using the halti, so a dog trainer recommended we try this Gencon.BRILLIANT. We have all the control we enjoyed with the halti, but our dog prefers this by miles, and if our dog is happy, we are happy. Highly recommended for dogs that pull.

Excellent - really works like magic!
Excellent! Thank heavens someone recommended this to me! A little fiddly to put on, but practice makes perfect! I have a cross Saluki/Labrador (think very elegant, long-legged Labrador, all black and shiny!). He's a young rescue dog and pulled really strongly on either harness or collar leads. The Gencon is like magic! It doesn't pull or hurt him and I can let the lead go loose and lead him round by a finger on this lead! I especially like the safety feature of having an extra clip to attach to his collar just in case the head harness comes off! He can open his mouth normally to drink etc. too. Highly recommended.

If you need a specific one then I recommend the gencon website
Contrary to what people are saying on here, you choose a left or right hand lead, you can not change them round, because if you did the stitching would then be rubbing on your dogs underchin. If you need a specific one then I recommend the gencon website, where you can pick left or right hand leads. These leads are excellent for my lab who always use to pull, with this lead she can't and we are now both enjoying our walks.Highly recommended
