Exceeded expectations
Behold, the humble packet of fabric dye, a alchemical concoction promising to transmute the mundane into the magnificent. In this particular instance, the subject of its transformative powers was a pair of jeans, described by their online purveyor as "light blue," a descriptor that, upon arrival, proved to be about as accurate as a goblin's promise. "White" was a far more fitting epithet, and as we all know, trousers of such pristine, unblemished hue are simply not to be borne by anyone with a modicum of good sense or a tendency to interact with the real world. One might as well walk around with a target painted on one's posterior.Faced with this sartorial predicament, the only sensible course of action was a dip in the magical waters of dye. The available palette, it must be said, was not a symphony of delights. Indeed, it seemed to have been curated by someone with a profound appreciation for all things... well, dye-like. Yet, amidst the myriad shades, a beacon of hope, or at least the least offensive option, emerged: Sea Blue. One imagined vast, churning oceans, or perhaps a rather deep pond on a particularly cloudy day.And what a delightful surprise awaited! For when the deed was done, when the jeans had emerged from their chromatic baptism, they were not the brooding, intense "sea blue" one might have imagined from the picture. Oh no, the resulting tone was far more delicate, a whisper of a wave rather than a roaring tempest. It was, dare one say it, perfect. Lighter than anticipated, it transformed the erstwhile ghastly white into something truly, remarkably good. A testament, perhaps, to the often-unforeseen glories that can spring from a decision born of sheer necessity and a touch of desperation. These jeans, once a monument to misdescription, now sail forth with a newfound dignity.

Love using this dye, colours do differ depending on fabric so be careful!

It’s ok… just ok.
I wanted to dye my white blouse navy blue as blue suits me better than a harsh white. The results were a pale baby blue not navy blue.Still looks nice but not the colour I wanted. Good price though and sort of did the job.

Purple Power
1st usually I don't let instructions get in the way of forging ahead with a plan, however - this I read cos' I like the dress I was dying - and it worked, easy peesy - not just dress but also two tops with spot on results. It feels like I have 3 new items to wear and the colour is perfect and excellent value for money :-)

SUPER PATCHY 👎🏽
I’ve used Dylon Machine pods with great success in the past. This is the first time I’ve used Dylon hand dye. I used the hand dye because I only had one small item, light in weight and in colour, so it seemed a waste to get a machine pod for such a small item. It was a fail, despite following the instructions exactly.I had tried to dye an XS shirt that was 100% Linen and weighed less than 200g. It was a really evenly light mauve colour originally. So I thought Brown would be a sensible choice to colour it.It was easy enough to do, the instructions are clear. The colour is exactly as shown and really intense, which I am happy with. I really like the colour It’s exactly the colour I had hoped that it would be and the only reason I gave one star, for the colour and for the ease of dying. But ultimately the result came out so patchy and my shirt is currently looking like a tie dye 50 shades of brown. It looks like it’s got faded sweat stains all over it. I’ve tried to capture in a photo, but you can’t quite see the many different shades of brown in the light. It also has black spots all over the place too, despite dissolving the dye powder first in warm water. I wasn’t expecting an amazing result, but what I have got is disappointing. Especially give the item is 100% linen.I do like that the buttons and inside branding tag and machine wash logo stayed pure white.I will now need to buy another packet and dye the shirt again, which is disappointing because I was using the hand dye because I was trying to avoid being excessive for such a small job. I wanted to avoid waste. I would recommend that if you are going to try these sachets, buy two incase anything goes wrong. But, I think for me, I’ll probably stick to the machine pods and wouldn’t buy this again nor would I recommend this product.

Have all you need to hand, follow the instructions and it's a breeze.
Why did you choose this product over others?:I've used Dylon dyes for years to recolour my black tee shirts and jeans, and to colour white tee shirts which have lost their sparkle. These have always been washing machine pods, so I was a bit unsure about hand dying for smaller items. I bought a navy dye to change the colour of a linen and viscose dress that I had ordered, which wasn't as dark as described, and difficult to return. I was also concerned about whether the different materials would take the dye and match. I followed the instructions very carefully and it came out brilliantly! I feel I now have the dress colour I wanted for a few pounds and an hours attention, much better than giving up on my purchase. I think the key to success is definitely paying attention to the process and I also squeezed the dye gently through the fabric with the rubber gloves on. I did it my stainless steel sink and it left no residue. Even better than having to clean the washing machine afterwards. I will definitely be hand dying again!! Well done Dylon.
