Very well made, strong build, lovely sound although its designed to be used only on the left side
What a beautiful bell this, takes one back to the good ol' times when all bicycles sang songs like this :)I purchased 2 units, one for me & the other for my better half.First impression, wow, heavy piece of metal here. The thumb ringer bit has a plastic cap but the rest is all metal & beautiful. Made in Holland so it says. The sound as mentioned before is music..a pleasure to tring along.Easy to fit, one on an old Apollo mountain bike & the other on a regular ladies street bicycle.Fitted on both handle bars with no issues at all, 2 screws to tighten & its set. Now, the only gripe to this bell.It is designed to be mounted on the left side of the handle bar.We are both right handed & myself sometimes on longer rides tend to sit up straight & ride with only one hand on the handle..the one hand being the right of course.Unfortunately if required to push the thumb lever outwards as would be normal use, the bell can only be on the left as the groove for that ringer lever only gives room for the one direction. As of now, i've set it up backwards on the right hand. When i need to ring the bell i have to use a different finger & pull the lever inwards toward me. Going to test if i can get used to this in the next weeks & if not, i'll change it around. For my partner, she decided to put it on the left, but is not too pleased about it. She did not feel comfortable with the pulling in on the lever as control over the bike gets a bit compromised. To sum it up...It's a good looking, lovely sounding bell, made well & feels like it will last long & strong. The price is very fair.Although its designed to be left handed. Can compromise a bit & force fit it on the right as mentioned above. Can recommend this to all, especially those who come from the time when bicycles all sang the "tring tring" songs

It's a good looking bell - that's all it has going for it
It's a good looking, fairly robust bell.Loud it isn't.It is not any louder than a "ping bell", though it will probably last longer and looks to be of better build quality (time will tell). To be fair, it is also not much more expensive than a ping, but I hoped for something a bit more audible.Edit after having had it for a while:Just revised the rating down from 3 starts to 2. After ~2 months, the bell was not working half the time (not a "ring" just a hollow ping), and by now, 3-odd months after purchase, it has failed completely.Yes, it is cheap. It's not loud, and apparently the build quality also isn't great.

Strudy, clear sound, inflexible fixings
My road bike has 25mm handlebars. I had to resort to bending the very study steel fixings and using a larger sized bolt than supplied to get it installed. The bell is very study, much of it made from steel, but there are plastic parts, e.g. the thing you push, so I hope these are not going to wear out too soon. The pusher is on the left, (when oriented so that you can push it), so the bell is designed to fit on the left.If you want it on the right (as I did) then you can fit the bell upside down (i.e. below the handlebar).I put mine underneath slightly to the rear, and that seems to work fine. The sound is very clear (clearer when fitted) way better than the ping thing I had that broke after a year. Its a traditional "bring-bring" sound (one when you press and another when you release). I was worried that because it is bigger and my drop handlebars don't have a lot of room it would get in my way, but it doesn't. I can't vouch for durability, but I'm optimistic.

Cycle bell
A nice looking bell. Although it says it sounds like ones we had in the 50s and 60s I would dispute that. The sound is much better than the modern single ping bells which are not really audible to pedestrians, so on that score it is good. The sound though is not as full bodied as expected but still good. I will use the bell but am a little disappointed.

Just what I wanted and needed!
I like this bell and it reminds me of the one on my bike when I was a kid. It's clear and loud enough to warn any person and to be HEARD by people around you. It's not a tiny ting nobody can hear. You need to think about the people on your way's safety and this bell is the best bell for it. It's good value for money and it's quality! Well worth buying. I can not recommend it enough. These modern little bells with their 'tings' are just rubbish.

I wouldn't buy any other.
Best quality bell, nice tone lasts a long time no maintenance required, easy to fit and stays where you put it (no wobbling) and would recommend you buy this bell for an adult or a child's bike, well worth it, I wouldn't buy any other

Lovely Sounding Bell
Bought this bell for my husban's bike as a christmas present on the basis of other reviews which described it as having a lovely tone. It does indeed have a lovely tone. Whether or not it will be 'manly' enough for hubby is another question entirely. Good quality for the price.

Nice bell
The bell itself has a great sound and it’s very attractive, definitely for an adult bike as it would be too large for a child. The bell is fixed in place with a metal bar the attaches with 2x screws, it’s not designed for wide bars and only just secured into place on my average sized handle bars. You can tighten the screws with a screwdriver to make it more secure.Overall we’re happy with them.
