Sony NWE394L.CEW 8 GB Walkman MP3 Player with FM Radio - Blue

I've been using the Walkman for almost a year now and it's very good. Yes it is a bit pricey for what it is but having bought a cheaper alternative before from some company you've never heard of which failed after a month the old saying you get what you pay for stands true. It's easy to use pretty much the same as any other MP3 player just drag and drop/copy paste music onto it. Button layout is self explanatory. Battery life is superb. I use this A LOT and battery life easily lasts 30-40 hours. No problem. Sound quality is fine as you'd expect from a Sony walkman. The cons with this is the price but buy sh** buy twice stands true as explained earlier. It doesn't have Bluetooth which is disappointing but not a deal breaker for me personally. It would be nice if it had a belt clip but it's flat and small so easily fits in your pocket. Finally it would be nice if it had a bit more memory 8GB is a bit small. Overall if you're looking for a quality MP3 player that will last a long time. I highly recommend this.

I wanted to replace an older Sony MP3 player and this seemed like a good idea at the time. It works ... and it works quite well really ... putting music on it is simple, the buttons make sense and are easy to use. It could do with a bit more volume perhaps, it's not bad, but maybe just a bit more would be useful. No Bluetooth, which isn't a deal breaker for me but would have been nice ... my major problem with it is charging it. It really doesn't like the more modern fast chargers and tends to overheat and sulk. I now charge it from a power bank to ensure it doesn't over-heat.

Over the last few years I've drifted towards Sony in general for most of my electronic products. First I got the Xperia phone, then a very decent pair of headphones, a smartBAND followed by a smartWATCH (only changing as my band went missing) moving up to my amazing 43" TV. Up until getting this item I used my phone for listening to music at work. It drains the battery and means I have to put music on my phone. This little gem stores plenty of music for my needs, plays it all at easily high enough volume and of superior sound quality (using my own Sony earphones of course, I haven't tried the ones that come with it) and packs plenty of BASS if the option is selected. The battery life is superb; each working day I probably am playing music for on average five hours and I get through the week on one charge. I've made little use of the FM tuner, but it's there and it works. It has the standard "hold" feature to prevent you from accidentally skipping a track or changing volume. The screen serves the purpose it's designed to do, it's not going to knock your socks off, but it's going to tell you what's playing, who's it by and how long the track is in a very easy to read colour format. As much of a Sony fan boy as I've somehow become over recent years I still tell it like I see it and this is a great piece of kit, it feels well built and I'd be surprised if, given sufficient care and attention, I won't get at least three years of use out of it. Even though I picked this up at a reduced price (£55) it does still feel a bit overpriced, in my humble opinion, something more like £45 is the fairer price point. Overall, very happy indeed.

I bought this as a replacement for my old Sony Walkman which I dropped seeing as this was a newer model at the same price I figured it would be as least as good if not better but overall was a disappointment. It feels flimsy and I doubt will take too much punishment, however you could argue as its so lightweight is ideal for jogging etc. My main issues are that unlike the previous model there is no shuffle facility on the main screen - you simply pick a track and have to make sure that the settings are set to shuffle otherwise it will play songs in alphabetical order, also the volume is very low for some songs and a bit higher for others (there is a noise restriction facility which I ensured was off) this was not present in the old model all tracks played the same? I can only assume it's down to file type. When plugged into speakers or car radio I have to sometimes adjust the levels on the units themselves to get a loud enough volume when the MP3 player is up to max On the plus side the pc interface (media go, you have to download)is fast and helps you build / import playlists quickly and without issue , the songs seem to upload very quick, I went for the blue version which is light and slimline - Radio is a good add on and enhances the product. Overall it's a decent player on a standalone testing, aside from the volume issues / but the older version was far supeeior

Geeft goed geluid. Nadeel maar 8 gb. Bediening eenvoudig, alleen moet je de knoppen wel heel goed indrukken voor een reactie. Batterijlading gaat zeer lang mee.

Dovendo sostituire il mio vecchio walkman per problemi di scarsa durata della batteria, pensavo di comprare ancora Sony. Al che ho avuto la conferma di essere un boomer, scoprendo che ormai la disponibilità è ridotta al lumicino. Non sono in grado di dire se sia perchè la casa ha smesso di sviluppare questo tipo di prodotti o se sia dovuto alla normativa italiana, che impone alle radio non economiche di ricevere anche il DAB. Infatti Amazon mi propone dispositivi di marchi sconosciuti a prezzi economici. Essendomi trovato più che bene con Sony durante tutti questi anni, sono andato alla ricerca di un lettore equivalente a quello che avevo. Purtroppo la versione da 16GB non è più disponibile e mi sono dovuto accontentare di quella da 8 GB. Costo ragionevole, tenendo conto che si paga un premium price per il marchio. Ricevuto nei tempi previsti e configurato in pochi minuti, replicando le impostazioni audio e le preferenze del vecchio lettore. I menù offrono una personalizzazione adeguata del suono. Le cuffie in dotazione sono veramente economiche e poco stabili nell'orecchio, per cui ho recuperato quelle di un altro marchio che usavo nel vecchio lettore. Per la connessione al PC viene fornito un cavetto micro USB. Ho apprezzato la scelta di Sony di abbandonare il cavo dedicato. Una volta connesso, il computer lo riconosce immediatamente e non ho avuto problemi a caricare la musica che mi interessava, semplicemente trascinando le cartelle. Basta non farsi prendere la mano, poichè 8GB si riempiono abbastanza in fretta, se i files audio non sono troppo compressi. Fatto questo l'ho potuto usare, apprezzando la durata della batteria, più che sufficiente per qualche giorno di ascolto, il suono molto buono se si usano cuffie adeguate e impostazioni corrette e la generale facilità di uso, che non fa rimpiangere l'assenza di uno schermo touch. Il volume massimo è un po' limitato, se siete fan dell'ascolto a volume pompato, consiglio cuffie con una buona efficienza, altrimenti anche con il volume a palla, il livello del suono potrebbe non essere sufficiente per chi ama spararsi la musica nelle orecchie. Difetto non da poco è invece il fatto che la funzione lock non disabilità il tasto di accensione, con il risultato che è possibile accenderlo involontariamente (anche se nella pratica è difficile che accada) anche dopo averlo bloccato. Niente da dire sulla ricezione con la radio FM. Si possono memorizzare 30 stazioni. In definitiva non è regalato, ma è un buon prodotto, consigliato a chi come me preferisce usare un lettore dedicato per ascoltare la sua musica preferita e la radio FM invece che usare lo smartphone. Usando un paio di cuffie di qualità e regolando l'audio, il suono è molto buono per un ascolto itinerante e la durata della batteria sufficiente per non dover ricaricare ogni giorno. Dimensioni e peso ridotto permettono di averlo sempre con sè. Chiaramente non si può pretendere la qualità del suono di un lettore ad alta risoluzione abbinato a cuffie di qualità e molto dipende anche dal livello di compressione dei files, ma per un ascolto itinerante va più che bene. Peccato per i soli 8GB, se ne avesse avuti almeno 16 o meglio 32, sarebbe stato perfetto. Ne consiglio l'acquisto. Si, se il marchio Sony è un valore e quindi si è disposti a pagare per avere un prodotto che va bene ma che potrebbe essere equivalente ad un lettore di un marchio sconosciuto che costa la metà. Io ho preferito andare sul sicuro e sono contento della scelta.
