Wine described from the technology perspective
Most wine lovers just drink wine and don't have to understand how wine is made, as for driving a car, you don't need to know the technology behind it. But if you are interested in the why and how of certain aspects of wines and wine tasting, this book gives you a valuable insight in the world of wine making. All explanations are clear and kept simple, you do not need to be a chemist to understand. The 3rd edition has been brought up to date, as the wine technology is improving all the time. The chapters on Quality Control and Quality Assurance are excellent and to the point, these subjects are more in my own field of expertise. Recommended for all who want to know some more about wine and wine making.

Buy it only if you really want to know about the chemistry that is at the back of wine
I’m a Sommelier and I was looking for something precise about the wine processing. This book it is really precise about chemistry and I think it is for who already have a goooood level and knowledge about wine.

Very informative
I'm thinking of starting a meadery, so I bought this book to get an idea about the types of equipment I might need. I found it to be very informative without being too technical. It was an enjoyable read.

A must to have
It’s a very important book to forge your wine knowledge. Winemaking it’s the flavours of a wine above everything, and winemaking start in the vineyard. Even the chemist it’s very well explained

A Great Book
An excellent work which explains in great detail the science of wine making and the decisions made by the winemaker which will affect the final product. It also shows that we now enjoy higher quality wines than ever before.

Good buy
Fantastic read, gives the scientific bits without being too detailed. I am a Technical Manager so understand all, but my husband is not and he still gets it. A good read if your getting into wine and it's process.

Excellent book. Perfect balance of chemistry and theory with a relaxed, interesting and chatty writing style. Would recommend to anyone wishing to augment theory with general oenology.

Super useful, well explained and easy to read
I'd highly recommend this book as the one to read before the Wine Production exam for WSETDip and those who just want a deeper understanding and grassroots explanation as to why a wine tastes and smells and behaves the way it does in the bottle and glass. I found this book super useful and definitely expanded my wine knowledge and appreciation.
