A spectacular finish for the Percy Jackson series
This is the last book in the series of five that make up the Percy Jackson series. There is a follow on series called The Heroes of Olympus, which features some of the characters from this series, but this is the culmination of this particular five book plot arc. I have been reading these books to my children all summer, and have been as excited as them to finally find out what happens, which is good, because they demand at least three chapters a night, and sometimes more if my voice can stand it. This is not a book you can read as a standalone novel, and if you are new to Rick Riordan's writing I suggest you start with the first book, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Riordan's books are always action packed, but I think this one is even more exciting to read as it launches us straight into the action and never stops delivering thrill after thrill. My children were utterly gripped. I don't want to give anything away here, so will not go into the ins and outs of the plot, but will say that we all thought the ending was excellent and everything was resolved satisfactorily. An amazing series.

Absolutely brilliant!
What an amazing way to end this series! This book was absolutely jam packed full of action! I figured we'd get more of a build up but it went straight into the battle pretty early on and it didn't stop from there. One thing I find odd about me liking this book so much is that there is a lot of flashback scenes (Percys dreams & the Gods showing him stuff) and it didn't bother me one bit. I normally really, really hate flashbacks but it is a testament to Riordan's writing that I really loved this book anyway. Every scene felt it had a purpose. I was so glad that so many great characters played a part in the final battle. Clarisse has never truly been a likeable character but in this book she was downright HBIC. There were also so many twists. A lot of them I really did not see coming. Even though we had a lot of clues they were cryptic and open to a lot of interpretation. I did manage to guess a few but in the end it didn't really matter because the ending was so well tied together that it felt like no matter how hard you tried, you could of never thought of it yourself so perfectly. If I was less fangirly about this entire series I could have two complaints about this book. It felt like it tried too hard to be funny at the start (but it soon evened out). There where so many random one liners, that fair enough to Rick Riordan made me laugh out loud, but they weren't really needed. Secondly, everyone turned out to be redeemed or forgiven in some way and not everyone deserved that. In a way it made sense, after all these are just kids. But some of them where just downright evil and others complete brats that didn't deserve to be redeemed or forgiven at all. The ending was sweet and left a lot open so Riordan could write a lot more! And can we please appreciate how awesome Nico is. I had to stop myself at certain points because no way should a person my age be thinking that Riordan's description of Nico was attractive! My two favourite quotes: "If you're heading downtown from Central Park, my advice is to take the subway. Flying pigs are faster, but way more dangerous." & "I kept climbing - past another telkhine who was so startled he dropped his Li'l Demons lunchbox. I left him alive - partly because his lunchbox was cool, partly so he could raise the alarm and hopefully get his friends to follow me rather than head towards the engine "

4.5 read, great end to this series
The development of this story was paced really good and kept you on your feet. Loved the fact Percy used his fatal flaw for good at the end.

My favourite in the series so far
The Last Olympian is the fifth instalment of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympian’s series. It follows Percy and his fellow half-bloods as they go to war with the Titan, Kronos, and his army. The gods are too busy fighting the monster Typhon, so the Demi-gods are left to protect New York and, more importantly, Olympus. My favourite character is Percy and my least favourite character is Kronos. I recommend this book because it’s actually my favourite in the series so far. It’s the endgame. This is what it’s all been about. It’s the most emotionally captivating of the series. And I FINALLY get established Percabeth. ‘But she laced her fingers through mine. I remembered what she’d told me in New York, about building something permanent, and I thought–just maybe–we were off to a good start.’ & ‘She looked at me, like she was drinking in the fact that I was still here. And I realized I was doing the same thing. The world was collapsing, and the only thing that really mattered to me was that she was alive.’

best of the series
Honestly I just enjoy this story so much. It’s written well, it answers all the questions and plot holes from the previous books and the conclusion was just so satisfying. I hated Luke, but now I forgive him. Only a good writer can make you like the villain!

The Last Olympian was the perfect last book of the series that take place in New York City with so much actions and destruction and Percy trying hard to save his city and home of Gods over the Empire State Building. It was about friendship, bravery and consequences of bad choices, true meaning of family, betrayal and treachery, learning from mistakes, and bringing change in the way of life and nature for the better future. It started with attack on Princess Andromeda, tragic death, Titan’s plan and Nico’s warning and urgency to act on the plan he proposed a year back that Percy was avoiding until now. Now that he faced Kronos and experienced his strength for the first time, he knew if he wished survive again and fight Luke, he had to act on Nico’s plan asap. Oh, and he finally got to know about full big prophecy that said he was going to die! God at war with Titan leaving the Olympus unprotected, sea God bust in protecting his own palace, Hades holding years long grudge against Zeus decided not to help his brethren, Nico desperately trying to get some answers about his mother and then helping Percy, Ares and Apollo bickering over petty issues. Phew, lot was going on in first few chapters only. How Percy was going to save the gods and their home, will he be doom of Olympus or protector, and how was he going to fight Kronos that didn’t include dying? It was tense and exciting to read this final Installment of the series. I was curious to read the final battle. There was humor here and there alright but things were getting serious, there was death looming over Percy and Gods were on the battle field in their best armor, New York City was under the sleep spell with destruction all around it. So, it needed the serious, tense, and on-the-age-of-the-seat tone and author did it fantastically. Like, ‘we are not going to laugh so much like we did in previous books until we’ve chopped up Kronos and sent him back to Tartarus‘. In this, Percy visited his father’s realm, finally, and I tell you it was wonderful minus all the battle raging down there; met Hestia-the Last Olympian and I was curious to read her importance as the title was given after her and after reading the book I could tell how appropriate it was; met some deadly Titans Morpheus- he can cause deadly dream and I’m sure one won’t need benzos around him, Prometheus- not-so-deadly but cunning for sure, Hyperion with burning light and a monstrous storm-giant who wreck such a chaos; . and slayed long list of monsters. There were many other important answers I finally got in this book like -Luke’s childhood and what made him bitter towards his parents, Nico’s mother and how he and his sister were sent to Lotus casino, Hades’ curse and how the prophecy was twisted in many ways, Rachel’s talent and her importance in immortal’s world, spy in the camp and how Luke twisted people’s mind to get his revenge, role of Luke and Ethan and many other rogue demigod’s in new upcoming change in Immortal’s world, and Annabeth’s hope and what Luke was for her, Percy’s role in the prophecy. There was twist and turn in each chapter, each chapter was dripping with friendship, courage and bravery, tricks and surprises. Don’t forget the titles of each chapters, they were so catchy that made me want to read what’s in the chapter. Percy not only gave so many thought-provoking lessons to readers but also made the Gods ponder over it. World-building, plot, characters, myth everything was impressive and well balanced. Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Clarisse were the star of the book. New development in Percy and Annabeth’s relationship was lovely and cute. It was also tragic to see so many deaths and destruction because of worst consequences of bad actions. Climax was wonderful. Loved the way Percy and Nico convinced their dads and oh my, that final battle was just brilliant. Each and every campers, immortals, and mortals fought amazingly. End was unique with many insights, change in immortals’ world- I loved that new blue print of camp half-blood in the end, and another big prophecy that was just as confusing and dangerous as previous one, maybe more! Overall, I just loved it. Can’t wait to read next spin-off series. It was riveting, entertaining, insightful, and impressive urban fantasy dripping with Greek myth and Humor that I recommend to fans of this genre.

This books makes you travel into a new world where you could be the hero in the same way that Percy is. Great book for 10+ years old. Be careful, you might never get them to stop reading it until they've finished it!

Il quinto libro è decisamente il più avvincente ed emozionante! Io l'ho acquistato in formato Kindle in lingua inglese ed è stato utilissimo poter vedere la traduzione di parole sconosciute semplicemente selezionandola toccando lo schermo.
