Today I am reviewing this Guitar Scales Poster. Overall, my first impressions with the product were good. The packaging was neat, no flaws in it, but the one thing I disliked is that this poster was shipped folded up. Some companies ship in tubes to prevent creases, but this particular one is shipped folded up in a clear pouch. I pulled it out and looked everything over. In the pouch was the poster, a leaflet showing other products made by this company, and 8 sticky dots to mount the poster. I went to my extra bedroom that had been turned into a home-office and mounted it on the wall where it could easily be seen. I only needed 4 out of 8 of those sticky dots, although I'm sure that putting extras in the center would keep it balanced on the wall pretty well. The dots do a good job of holding the poster to my sheet-rock walls. As for the poster itself, it's almost like a canvas style material, but feels like vinyl, too. The ink is printed on clearly, and every thing is legible. It shows several different types of scales and modes, as well as a circle of 4ths/5ths. Honestly, because there's so much on here, it will take me a while to memorize it. It could be very overwhelming if you're not familiar with music theory, or are self-taught, but once you have the scales down, they can be applied to anywhere on the fretboard to correspond with the key you play in. Overall, I'd recommend it. It's a very useful tool in learning how to play guitar, and the poster is of good quality, versus what you might find elsewhere.

I've played guitar for several years. This chart helps tremendously on my new venture, learning the piano. Well worth it.

I have been trying to take up piano again after not playing for some time. Having this handy seemed like a good idea. FABRIC This is made from woven fabric which is coated with a plastic type coating that is flexible and a great matte surface. PRINTING The printing is easy to read and follow. USES You can either use this on the wall as a poster, but then when I realized my wall space is too limited, I see that I can use this as a fold out pamphlet too and it is still practical to read and use. DOES IT HELP? I have had some great inspiration from using this so far. I hope to get a lot more use out of it when I spend more time with the piano after the growing season is over and I am inside more. THE BOTTOM LINE This is a well set up and very durable chart set. I like that I can use it as a fold out to read OR a poster. MY RATING FIVE STARS. I am so glad to have this. It is helping a lot and will continue to help me get back into piano again. It is amazing how it comes back to you once you start playing different chords.

While I appreciate the educational value of this product, I'm not sold on its execution. It comes folded in a lot of squares, is not easy to sight-read at even a minor distance, and doesn't fit the standard poster frame size of 27x40 (it's 27x47). You'd think the additional length would give it breathing room for visual comprehension, but what it needs is additional width. I'm also not crazy about the price point, or how the final product photo makes this look so much larger than it is. It's a useful tool up-close. The build quality is pretty solid. Plus it comes with its own adhesive grips for hanging. But I could only recommend this as a guitar scales reference tool for those who can find nothing else in poster form.
